It's not just "these kids" - its a lot of people in Congress too, and in media, and in corporate America.
I don't concur that these activists are in the majority. However, they are effectively controlling the microphone right now - in traditional media, in news, on social media, and in part of government. The dialogue is entirely one-sided IMHO, with a media full-court press .. and a social media press ... and corporate America falling right into line.
A congress of Democratic Attorneys General met this week, and are rallying around "common sense" gun control Maryland-style - meaning AWB, 10 roung mag limits, bump stock bans, universal background checks, and licensing of gun owners.
This activism will continue find its way into Congress and into state legislatures. Maryland's legislature is looking at three new gun control measures (on top of the already onerous firearms restrictions in the state). A whopping 70 gun-related bills we introduced in the Virginia legilature this session. Only one passed, but had one or two elections gone the other way in this state, VA could easily have started going the way of MD.
Back to the original topic - "these kids" are being used as a prop and as a tool by gun control advocates.
The bottom line is that we are a Republic, not a Democracy (like these kids think). This means that no matter what the majority says individuals still have the right to keep and bear arms.
Unfortunately, these kids do not understand this concept. They believe in majority rule on everything, even on the other rights spelled out in the Constitution. This is how they can argue for restricting speech with a straight face. They see nothing wrong with mob rule.
