Gun Run A Good Thing Right?

I understand that the spike in gun prices is inconvenient, but isn’t it ultimately a good thing that all these (hopefully) new gun owners are joining our ranks? I can’t imagine that our law makers aren’t taking note of the “gun boom” we’re currently experiencing and I think they’re smart enough to realize that these people are going to be upset if their shiny new thousand(s) dollar toys are made illegal.

Am I the only one that sees this possible upside?

Absolutely it's a good thing. I purchased a WASR-10 and an SKS previously, and knew what would happen to them after the election. I would have bought more for later re-sale after the election figuring they would be a good investment, however I have put all of my funds into having a bunch of kids instead.

The purchase of firearms will do a number of things. It will stimulate the economy. It will put more guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens. It will send a message to politicians about how important this is to Americans. It will make more gun owners who vote. It will put more firearms in circulation and spur the production of additional firearms. It may cause our political leaders to take pause before passing anti-gun laws. These are all good things.

It may not be such a good thing if the people buying all these guns haven't a clue about how to use them and refuse to learn! Then that would be an accident just waiting to happen!

dmickey, I'm sure a lot of people who are buying right now are already gun owners. They are just trying to find that EBR they've been wanting or to get whatever else they've been looking at before any potential bans.

I think the buying spree is amongst the folks like us who are aware of second amendment issues. It amazed me except for the 'bitter people' and the penn comment 'i couldn't take your guns if I wanted to because there is no congress support' how much of a non issue it was. Invisible. Non existent.

There are a couple EBR I want but then again I already have a couple so I am concerned more with ammo. I don't like the 'reasonable' tactic concerning environmental concerns and 'helping law enforcement' that threatens to take away the bullets but not the guns.

I would be real surprised if anytime soon they push 'US' because the pro gun folks have proven to be formidable political critters to wrestle with. We helped burn Clinton once. Maybe they remember. Maybe they are too drunk with their victory to care.

I assume that the liberal law makers just have a skewed point of view on the gun boom. I'm sure they hear about it on CNN and say to themselves "Oh no, look at all of these dangerous military-style assault weapons that will fall into the hands of drug dealers, robbers and homeland terrorists".

Well, Mao said that "political power grows out of the barrel of a gun". Whether or not your particular politics aligns with his (and I certainly hope it doesn"t) as political theory it has some validity.

Machiavelli felt the same way.

So as a political statement I'd say that it should show up on the radar. Not all politicians have forgotten the Great Turkey Shoot of '94 that cost the Democrats dearly.

What gun run? I don't know what you are talking about. I sold all my guns on craigslist the day after The One was elected.
