Anyone going this Sunday. I'll be there. On the prowl for any deals to be had on old SxS shotguns. Plus I need a pound of IMR3031 to reload my .32 Win Spec and there's a guy there who normally has it for $4-5 less then what Gander Mountain wants for it. I'll also pick-up a long gun sock/rug or two from the guys from St. Loius who have 10-12 tables of things. Maybe an ammo can or two, can't ever have too many. Next weekend is the show at Kane County and Jim Gardener from Gardener's Cache is there and he has .32 Win Spec bullets for $8.00/100. Plus it's about twice the size of the Wheaton one.

Both shows are pretty good, no "real" Nazi stuff except for the guys selling genuine bringbacks and most also have US and Japanese stuff also, only one or two tables of jerky. Some reloading stuff but mostly guys looking to thin their collections or make some side cash. Some dealers, most have what I would call their "dregs". However, the occasional deal can be had. For $5 for me and my (6yo) son, it's cheap entertainment for a couple of hours, and it helps keep them going.

I'll be the guy walking around with a 6 yo and a sign around my neck selling a Pacific DL-350 reloader. Please buy it and help support my shooting habit. :D

Hey, while you're in the area and since you're looking for a SxS, do yourself a favor and go to Cantigny Park (war memorial estate on Roosevelt Rd. and Windfield, IIRC. Been 20 years since I was there last) and check out the triple barrel Wesley Richards 1 over 2 twelve gauge in the Robert McCormick mansion's library.

I used to drool over that thing since I was old enough to climb all over the tanks they had outside of the First Division museum. Your 6 year old will love you for taking him, for the tank-climbing if nothing else.

On even more of an aside, I used to work security there (Cantigny) many years ago and my boss Showed me a docked-stock Tommygun given Robert McCormick by none other than Al Capone during the prohibition days! It's NOT on display, however, at least it wasn't then. Boss had a key to General Creighton's office on the fourth floor of the mansion which is not on the tour... Felt good to hold such a piece of history, though. Coulda been one from the legendary Valentines Day massacre for all I know!

The whole place is just OOZING history!

SoS,
I live in Wheaton, so we make it over to Cantigny at least 1-2 per summer. I remember a couple fo years back I chaperoned my daughter class on the tour of the mansion and 1ID museum. In the "Freedom Room" they have several of the Colonel's firearms behind glass. I remember seeing a Holland & Holland SxS's that I just drooled over. I imagine I'll be going back again in few years when my son's class goes on the tour.

And yes, even I enjoy climbing on the tanks.....
