Barn burner of a Phoenix gun show!

As far as pawn shops around here? I don't even step foot in them. Most everything I am interested in is already marked to sell on the internet.
No the point was clear. I was actually paying you a compliment. When you’re doubling your money and still not pricing high, you’ve made good buys. Pawn shops around here can really be almost obscene. But there are 3 that I know of for sure that really do people right. Interestingly enough, they’re all small. But they are clean, well organized, good prices, and friendly staff. I honestly enjoy going in to see them. And when they go to gun shows, they do well there also.

The local private gun show sellers seemed to belong to the same Good Old Boys’ Club...

...where their wives don’t tread.

Our shows have not restarted. I've wondered whether the large number of residents in Germantown TN (a certain "flavor" of those who are from IL, NY, MA, CA etc) are linked to this prolonged shutdown of gun shows, simply using the Wuhan Virus as a very convenient excuse.

Or maybe the show promoters don't expect to break even.

Some promoters have been blind-sided at the last minute by; municipalities, counties, states or the owners of the venue with previously un-stated demands relative to the Chinese flu and the ever-shifting interpretations of realitic precautions.

One, at all but the last minute, was told that the maximum allowed occupancy was suddenly, unpredictably slashed. And slashed to such a degree that the dealers alone exceeded the newly interpreted allowable occupancy. And this, was only a few months ago.

So I can see promoters being skittish for sure.

Todd.

It was supposed to be 140 per table - Crossroads is generally highest in the country.

I got three tables in my own six table tent for MUCH less than that and the other tables were never used so while I didn't use all of them, I had access to all six and the extra shade afforded by a 10x20 tent rather than the 10x10 most had.

When I left, I turned my tent over to the dealer-family next to me. I've known them wince the 90's.... good folk.

Todd.
Thanks. I'd have to go through my inventory to see if I have enough gun-interesting ones to offer to make taking a table worthwhile, but it's good to know. :)

That's been true for a goodly while--ask the shows that used to be in City of Houston (and that was B.C19).

I remember when $40 per table was "high"; later $80 per table was "high"--times change.

Back when larger shows had at least a couple book sellers, those people needed patience and a lot of dollies to tote heavy books and shelves into the show (and usually out again). Often these were great tables to browse through for having fascinating selections of titles (when they weren't just Survivalist stuff with questionable copies of various military manuals).

And, some of those volumes were "show" priced--Anarchist Cookbook almost always seemed to go for 2x a "normal" price, like it would be any more anonymous to buy from Lefty at the show for $24.95 instead of $5 cash at Half-Priced Books.
