Gun store idiot of all gun store idiots!

I've noticed that the subject of gun store morons, in front of , and behind the counter has popped up here from time to time. Recently in a town near me the all time greatest act of stupidity occured in a "gun/pawn" shop. It seems a fellow (probably much like ourselves) wanted to look at a particular gun and the "numbnuts" behind the counter proceeded to show the customer the gun...............AND shoot the customer in the hip!!!!! More anti-gun fodder. :what::banghead:
 
wow...

if that were me, i'd sue so hard, i'd have enough money to buy that nice gun he shot me with! (and more)
 
This may not be that uncommon...

The same thing happened about two years ago in a local gun store. However, in this case, the clerk shot the customer in the foot.
 
Wow... instead of suing... I'd just want to have something set up where I would get 5 guns a year of my choice from them all for free. Nothing they'd have to special order that would be like 50,000 or something ridiculous, but a couple nice pistols, as well as a few free rifles and shotguns every year would be rad.

Plus they'd pay medical bills and I'd get free ammo and range time :). I forgot to mention that too
 
My Questions

1. Why was their ammo in a Display gun?
2. Why didn't this moron check for a chambered round first thing?
 
I could have gotten shot in the chest at the local pawn shop. The guy was showing a kid how to aim a rifle by pointing it at my chest and tracking me all the way from my spot at the counter to the door.
 
I don't know if he was fired or not, for all I know he owned the shop. I do know one thing, if he shot me, after my attorney got a hold of him, I might own the shop.

I would have gone back later and had a few words with the owner/manager later if that was me.
 
I don't work in the floor of the shop but sometimes if they are busy when I am walking though the showroom I will stop and help people.

Any time I hand a customer a gun I drop the mag, lock the slide back, check the chamber and then hand the customer the gun. There is no excuse for not taking proper precautions.

That sounds nice, but what happens when they close the doors and go out of business. I would prefer to take my settlement up front, with an added requirement of a lifetime medical policy to cover conditions caused by or related to the incident with no bs.

Touche sir, well, how about I'd get a huge cash settlement, but I'd take as much guns/ammo as I wanted, and that would just count towards the initial short term settlement :)
 
I was in a pawn shop and had a close one about 6 years ago. they would let me see the ones coming out the next day or so. they brought a 30-06 rifle out that had been in there like two years as the guy pawned it and then could not get his back ground check straightened out. well they handed me the rifle and I did what I always do it open the bolt and there was a round in the chamber and the rest wear in the rifle also. they had a fit thinking that rifle had been on a shelf for like two years loaded. I ended up buying it a few days later. but I have seen many times in shops like that where a person pawns a gun and they just take it in and never check to see if it was loaded.
 
Sadly, it does not suprise me.

I was at a sporting goods store a couple months ago when a man walked in and plopped a pistol case on the counter. When the clerk asked if it was unloaded the guy whipped open the box and the next thing I know I am staring down the muzzle as he is trying to unload the !@#$ thing. I stepped back out of danger. Another idiot to report. Where do they come from? The rules are part of every BB gun, pellet gun, rifle pistol and shotgun owner's manual. Plus, many people that do this stupid stuff have formal training. How can anybody forget these most important of safety rules? Like the cop that had the ND?

Picked up

a used hunting rifle, and discovered the mag was loaded. Just handed it to the guy behind the counter. It was .338, glad I didn't try to "dry" fire it!
 
For all those above who have these "free gun" or "I'm rich now" ideas, remember that you won't be dealing with the shop owner, you will be dealing with his insurance company. Not quite the same.

Personally, I would rather not get shot. :)

My radical opinion

I just don't think it is a good idea to shoot the customer when demonstrating or showing the gun.

Some customers may appreciate this.

I guess I'm a radical. :neener::neener::neener::neener:
 
I have one too

I work at a hospital where prison inmates come for treatment. I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP. A few years ago, one of the guards in a patient's (inmates) room shot a hole in the wall while he was practicing his "quick draw". Let me say that again. This guy was sitting in a hospital room with an inmate practicing his "quick draw" with a loaded revolver and put one in the wall (actually I was told it went through a wall, across a hall and then lodged into another wall). Pure genius.
