Gun stuff finds of the week!

I found a little sense of normalcy last week when i got a hair cut and decided to go look at softball equipment at the Academy Sports next door. As we went through checkout in the customer service lane i noticed stacks of 45acp, 9mm, 40, etc. I asked for one box of 45 ($15) and one 9mm ($12) for my next range session. It felt good to walk away knowing the next random person could get what they want as well.

C'mon pimpin your mom out for ammo has to be a new low. :neener: :D
Hehe, even worse. If I were say, early 20's that would be one thing, but I am early 40's LOL

She happened the have been in town staying for a week in my guest bedroom, consider it rent ;)

Really, buying 8 boxes of ammo is not fair????

Its 8 freaking boxes, Prior to this people bought 50+ boxes...

The problem is not buying the 8 boxes, the problem is people buying and flipping them that is reducing supply. When the price the flippers get makes it not worth it then the supply will come back up. Then and only then, the limits actually perpetuate the problem as people cannot get a reasonable supply at a reasonable price thus they pay the scalpers the higher rate and the scalpers buy more. It is a vicious cycle.

If people could buy all they wanted at a reasonable price they would not pay the scalpers, it would not be worth it for the scalpers, and the supply would increase.

Graf's had some 223 bullets in stock so I got a few 55 and 77 gr to try out. Nothing extravagant just a few boxes.

Our son is home on leave, after picking up his BowTech bow, we stopped in a newer LGS and he got a Dan Wesson .357 Max (Supermag), 600+ brass, 100+ bullets, two extra barrels, two extra grips, extra rear (interchangeable) sight with 6 rear sight faces, original box.

$500

Picked up a clearance rifle at wally world while on vacation. Savage bolt action 7mm RM, accu-trigger, blued, synthetic stock and Simmons 3x9 scope. $247. Wasn't looking for a new rifle. Just thought that was a good deal. I was just killing time waiting on my wife and saw a rifle without a price, asked 'how much?'. Picked up reloading components on the way home. New toy!!! New caliber!!!

I've been looking for small rifle primers for 3 months now, with zero luck. I got super lucky one day and bought 1k small pistol primers, so I got my blessings.
I've got notifications on pretty much every site online with no news for 2 months, check every week at our cabelas when they get orders with no SRP. :(
hopefully the drought clears up soon

This week? Found a Sccy CPX-1 for $300 local, and 3 boxes of 9mm for $18 each to test it out with. Also, got the sights fixed on two of my handguns (for only $20 labor) and for the first time ever I've been able to hit paper with my m57. I am QUITE pleased.

And now for something completely different ... for me at least.

Checking out a local gun store a little ways from my usual stomping grounds. Lots of gee whiz black rifles, with every accessory known to man. Tried to talk me into a Glock or two, couldn't believe I didn't own one ... yet.

Spotted a muzzle loader "Kentucky Long Rifle" on the wall near the back, consignment sale. 42 inch barrel, fully stocked 58 inch tiger stripe maple .45 caliber, long and as graceful as an nubile Itaiian model on the runway. Looks like an older conversion from a flinter when I carefully pulled the lock off.

The gun store was happy to be rid of it, didn't fit their "tactical oeuvre" I guess. It now resides, all dusted off and with a lightly oiled patch run through the bore, at my house while I decide the best way to display it ... after I check the barrel and test fire it of course.

My nephew was rummaging around his girlfriend's mother's shed and found an old box (styrofoam minus the box, actually) of factory Remington .303 British, well 19 rds. anyway, and gave it to me for my Enfield. It was extremely black and cruddy. I wish I had taken a pic of the 'before' cleaning. What are the odds, I thought! I pulled one, and no sign of moisture inside. It's 180gr RN, and I'm guessing IMR 4895. Not earth stopping, but I was pretty thrilled!
