I was poking around a little on Gunbroker today and was shocked to see the prices being asked for ammo. Even more shocked that people seem to be paying it! Ammo that would have sold for say $150/case had literally dozens of people bidding on it at $300-$400! Stop the insanity! I understand the law of supply and demand but to me this is outright panic. I understand the cause for concern given the state of our nation and its "leadership" but paying these exorbanate prices will only cause the price of ammo to remain even further inflated once this issue settles down.

Until things settle down, all I need is one round well placed to stop the crazy fool breaking into my home with intent to harm my family. Maybe two, in case I'm half asleep.

I actually saw one auction won last night for 1000 rounds of .223 with the winning bid of......$2006.
Amazing.

Edit to add...Here's the GB auction #32538823

time for anyone who doesn't know how to, to begin to reload!
I think I'm up to about 8 people I've taught.
3 are in the works.

I was watching that one too. Interested in just how high it would go. This won't last long though then it we will be picking up sweet deals online from all of the "investors" that bought at the top of the market and now need to dump it in when all the shops are restocked. Just like last time.....

It is good and comforting to know that if you REALLY REALLY need (or want) ammo and need (or want) it right now, it can be had at a price, even when there isn't much on the local store shelves.

It is good and comforting to know that if you had the foresight to buy a few cases when you first heard of the recent troubles, you could turn that investment into a very nice return if you are able to connect with one of the people who really really need (or want) ammo right now.

People helping people. People connecting to the mutual benefit of each. Isn't that what it's all about?

It is also comforting to know that in a few weeks or months things will be back to normal (in most states ... might take a year or two to get some of the kooky states back in line) and you'll be able to pick up all the 5.56 mm you want for prices more in line with previous trends. Thrift favors the patient.
