I know that unlike the GunBroker auction site, Guns America just lists firearms for a price set by the seller. My question - for those that have used GA - is how firm are the prices usually. Is there an acceptance of dickering over the price or is that action frowned upon? Just curious.

I have never bought from GA, but it would seem that prices are negotiable since it is not an auction. Lots of items on that site are already sold and the ads not deleted. I dislike GA for several reasons and rarely frequent it.
I wouldn't hesitate to haggle if I was interested in something there. Lots of people wont haggle, but what do you have to lose? If I was to buy something off of GA, I would strongly consider an escrow service such as www.safebuyer.com. YMMV

I've bought several firearms off of GA. With a couple I haggled, some I didn't. If you wait, you will find a very good price there. On the other hand, I've tried to haggle several times and got back the email: "sorry, just sold the gun at the listed price."

I've never used an escrow service. I do pay with a postal money order.

I've bought off of GA before also but didn't haggle b/c the price already was very good. You can always try and the worst that can happen is the seller will say no.

I got one there. Since there are many different sellers, it's basically a gun show with lots of individuals. Haggle if you wish. I did some.

I got one gun through GA at a passable (but not great) price. The guy on there had exactly what I wanted, however, so I went for it. There are ALOT of listing there, but you really have to shop around, alot of the prices are just nutty.

I have bought two pistols off of GA.

The first was a Beretta model 84, price was average, but it was exactly what my wife wanted so I ponied up the dough.

The second was a Glock 30 I got a great deal on.

If you know waht you are looking for and are patient you can find good deals.

I bought there once and made an offer, which was accepted.

Most folks don't delete their ads (or answer e-mails), or I'd have bought a few more things.

Sold only one there, so far.

The haggle part was $25 less due to no longer having to ship it out of state.

I bought a mossberg 500 off there and didn't bother to haggle since it was already a great deal. I didn't have any problems.

Im gonna throw my two cents in..

I have bought and sold personally several guns though guns america. Every transaction has been perfect.

Our shop sells on Guns America (we only buy a few on there)...generally I have 20 plus guns listed. We have sold numerous guns there. Every transaction has been flawless.

I dont like the auction sites for several reasons. First of all they arent really "auctions", the dealers list their guns at what they want to get and hopefully someone bids more. Their fees are higher. I have bid on guns and the next day the gun was "gone", since the sellers reserve the right to sell outside the site (yes its the same on Guns America but at least I dont have to go through the effort of bidding)..

I also think there is far more "puffing" on the auction sites...

Alot of the prices on Guns America are of course a joke. Just for suckers because the listing is free like on Gunbroker. You have to haggle on them if you want to get a normal or "good" price.
