Guns in Mexico

Unfortunately this issue is far less romantic and far more complex.

A lot of these vigilantes go far beyond passive patrols and deterrence, and will actively abduct, torture and even kill people whom they net in their road blocks. More vexing is that "vigilante groups" and "criminal cartels" are often one in the same, with each group justifying violence and murder against the other in the name of peace and the good of society.

Sounds a lot like the US government.

All I can say is that when I was in Mexico all I could do is think about my guns at home, sitting in my safe, thousands of miles away. And I remember feeling lost without them. At least my girlfriends dad carried his revolver around with him everytime we went out. I asked him how he go it into Mexico, said he had it in his pocket when he crossed the border years ago.
