It's too bad...
... that the "rebirth" of the Bren never materialized. Though the Bren doesn't suit eveyone's taste for style, it still holds a certain place in 10mm history.
As to the Glock versions, as previously touched upon, the G20 and G29 are available. The G20 is the full size version, while the G29 is marketed as a sub-compact(hence Major Sub status in GSSF matches). So, by Glock's own placement, there is no compact 10mm Glock, in the G19 type mold. A 10mm compact Glock, with say a 4.125" to 4.2" length barrel and a 12 to 13 round capacity(hey, push for the 94 AWB to sunset... push REAL HARD). Another use for the compact Glock topend would be on top of a G36 type single stack frame with 8 or 9 round capacity. Hmmm, maybe with G10 and G11 as their "nomme de Glock"?
I'll second, third, fourth or whatever, the re-introduction of the S&W 10xx series, especially that "value-line" entrant! Maybe we'd even get to finally have the proto'ed 10xx sub-compact that never made it to production(hey, when you dream, go big!).
Doesn't the Sig P220ST have a stainless frame as well as the stainless slide? The 10mm conversion is "doable", but that'll be a steep priced conversion, as you'd need abarrel as well as mag alterations to feed the 10mm. Also, if trying to convert the 220ST, how would you handle the larger breech face of the slide? I'd rather spend the money on a factory 10mm 220ST(are you listening SIG?!?)
On the Tan Witness front... well, the Witness offers such a nice possibility of options... so disapointing on delivery of CS support(and I can speak to that directly).
Not only are there more firearms now available for the 10mm than ever before, there are also more ammunition manufacturers. Sure, some are not the "majors", but they are there in the market, none the less. Texas Ammunition, Georgia Arms, CorBon, Glaser, Magsafe, Triton(?), RBCD and now Double Tap(yeow!!!, 700+ Ft/lbs of energy from all but one of the currently available DT loadings!!!). Even some Wally Worlds are beginning to stock the 10mm UMC loading(at least around my location they are).
So, we can't easily have a H&K MP5/10. We do have a couple of AR top ends and the CCU conversion units for both the 1911 and Glock frames.
What we need to do is to make sure the manufacturers know we do buy and that the 10mm IS making a return to some type of popularity.
We(the 10mm community) do a have a building momentum! Let's keep it going!
