Attaguy on the 10mm CZ 97B. In addition, I always mention the Sig P220 when this subject comes up. Two of the best potential 10mm platforms I can think of.

Ditto on the CZ 97B and Sig 220ST! Wow--I'd buy those in a heartbeat. Also, the Springfield XD in 10mm with he 5" barrel would be sweet!

Are you listening CZ USA, Sig USA & SA?

I have to include the standard replies....
USP compact
CZ97b
older star pistols (Obviously not happening.)
A colt snake-type revolver. (Call it a boomslang perhaps?)
A single-stack glock that takes 1911 mags. (Yeah, THAT'S happening anytime soon.)
A smith PC945 in 10mm would be nice. (Fish scales, baby!!)
And my #1 wish in 10mm. (Drum roll please!)
A commander length razorback! All steel, baby.

Something by Kel-Tec in 10mm., sized along the lines of a P-32. Separate the real men from the men.

Seriously, as stated earlier, the Ruger P-series pistol would be a good platform for this caliber.

Ummm, how about all of them? More 10mm shooters should lead to cheaper ammo, methinks....

classic full size SIG would be great now that they make stronger slides but can the aluminum frame handle full-house 10mm? ST models only is more likely.

a lot of states like Ohio have handgun hunting regulations that mandate a straight-wall case cartridges so 10mm is ideal for people that want to use an automatic. a lot of states require long 5'' or more barrels so maybe Glock, SIG and CZ could make a longslide versions in 10mm. 10mm has it's niche and if only people would just make the guns for it.

10mm platform...

Considering the 10mm to be only semi-popular these days, the gun manufacturers have a choice...

1) Revitalize the caliber by creating new plarforms for this versitile cartrige.

2) Continue to let the caliber flounder (its demise will eventually occur)

I know there are many guys here at THR and other forums that will deny the 10mm's popularity is suffering. We all want to believe that our own likes are the best things going and every else agrees with us. In the case of the 10mm, this is simply not the case, and the manufacturers are at least partially liable.

If it were me, i would begin at the beginning. Get a major manufacturer that has a reputation for taking chances, as well as a good engineering dept. and get the Bren X/Peregrin Falcon off the ground. I am one of the many who have fired a Bren, but has never had the cash to obtain one. I have used a CZ97 and was not that impressed. While the Bren was a loose copy of the CZ design, the two DO NOT feel or handle similarily. If a reputable company could accomplish the impossible here, there would be a ground swell of buyers drooling to get a Bren... with a couple of magazines too.

Ruger and Sig are the next logical designs to incorporate the 10mm if they found if profitable (ie that is why they are in business). The P90 would be a great affordable weapon and would give the Witness a run for its share of the business. A SIG P220st I think would be awesome, and would be a nice addition to my own collection.

I guess we will have to see as only time will tell.

Not meant to flame, but I think the Bren is one of the ugliest handguns going. Heavy and blocky, makes a Ruger look svelt. I would have zero interest if they were available again.

Monkeyleg - I think the question was directed towards handguns. But you have a point in that a Barrett M82 in 10 mm wouldn't have any recoil. :D

HK UMP in 10 mm would be good. A Calico would also be interesting too. Should be bull-pup configuration though.

A Ruger Super Redhawk for handguns.

The Reverend,

10mm, while never destined to be screamingly popular, is probably never going to entirely vanish, either. (Think .41 Magnum) Actually, it's experiencing a small renaissance right now, with more guns offered in the caliber than any time in the last ten years.

Concur with Tamara.

Anecdotal evidence would seem to support that the 10mm has a small but growing cadre of supporters. I would think that word of mouth and the internet have had a fairly big hand in helping the 10mm along, as it's gone from a cultish round only heard about in hushed whispers to something that is fairly available. (Heck, even Long's Drug sells factory loads of 10mm!)

While it's unlikely to ever reach the popularity of a 9mm or .45 ACP, that is sort of built into the round. After all, it's quite versatile, and the sort of thing that is prone to tinkering. To get the best performance out of 10mm for your needs you have to roll your own, regardless of whether the intended purpose is hunting or just plinking.

Or maybe I'm just in love with the mystique of the round. I don't even own a 10mm.

:p

Chuck - Not everybody likes the lines of Bren, but the CZ design has been copied the world over. I happen to think the Glock design is the ugliest thing going at the moment, but I would be a fool to allow that personal preference to effect my belief that they are also some of the most durable and utilitarian handguns available.

As far as comparing them to the current Ruger design... The P series from Ruger are EXTREMELY durable, and very affordable. Like most things Ruger, you probably get the "biggest bang for you buck" than with most other brands. But I would have to say that besides the Bren being a large weapon, they are well balanced, at least from my experience. If Rugers are anything, they are fat. Some of the thickest handguns out there, some have said. But as with most things, that's what makes living here in the USA great... To each his/her own.

Happy shooting!

Tamara - Its good to hear the 10mm is experiencing something of a resurgence. Your comment leads me to believe that my initial statement was at least partially correct. Unless the manufacturers believe the 10mm to be a profit making caliber, thus produce new platforms for it, the caliber will go the way of the dodo. I'm again glad to hear that the manufacturers are not deaf to what many are saying.

God Bless!

All of the above plus...

Taurus Titanium Tracker....
Ruger Blackhawk Hunter in 10mm, .40S&W, & .38/40 (3 cylinders :D )...
Kimber Eclipse II (5" & 6")...
"Brownie"--type derringer in .38SPL, 9mm, 10mm, & .45ACP...
Ruger PC-10 and P-97...

Anything I left out?....

I am in agreement with the Reverend and Tamara on this.

Firstly, I would love to see someone with the engineering, finances, and market presence take up the Bren project and bring it back to life.

Secondly, there are more 10mm guns out there than I can remember ever. There have been 10mm revolvers from Smith & Wesson. Dan Wesson recently introduced a 10mm 1911 called the Razorback. There is word from Kimber that they are going to do a run of 10mm and 38 super guns, and just this week came word from Hartford that Colt is going to do another 10mm 1911, based on the Special Combat Government model.

Someone said they wished there was a full size and compact Glock. There are. The Glock 20 is the full size 10mm, and speaking from personal experience a hoot to use at the range. The baby Glock version for 10mm is the Glock 29.

What we as 10mm fans have to do is get the word out to others about what is available and how good a cartridge it is. Then we have to let the factories know what we want and then back that up with $$$$.

CZ-75B in 10mm would be great. They already make it in .40S&W so it shouldn't be hard to do.
