H&K or Sig in 9mm

Generally the HK's Why? They fit me better than the Sig's do regardless of model. I could care less about the falshy name so long as it's a quality make/model and it fits me. Not gonna shoot an ill-fitting handgun very well no matter what brand it is or how "tactical" it looks.

I much prefer my HK's over most everything else -- they fit, they shoot very well, they're 100% reliable and (at least for my eyes) they look cool

check out the p2000, there are different variants available, its a good size for ccw. Sigs are said to be great guns, but the double action trigger pull is too long for my hands, make sure you check that out before you purchase one.

Best fit, feel, naturally in your hand

...

That, and point to aim plus, what you can or want to invest, as it should be a long time commitment.

Have the gun clerk demonstrate the ease or difficulty of disassemble and reassemble of each gun.. because you're gonna have to do it, yourself.

Personally, I can speak highly of the EASE of this procedure with any of my Sigs. All have shot, 100% no problems, and "accurate out of the box."

I can also speak highly of my P229 CT Carry 9mm, 2000 rounds, no jams, no failure to fire, just 100%.

Also, I'm sure the slightly longer, thinner, P226R 9mm is as sound.

But it should be what feels best, naturally, in your hand, and your investment dollars.

Good luck,

LS

Sigs aspire to be HKs. For a great range and CCW HK offers the P2000, P2000SK, USP compact and the classic P7. All suitable for full time duty weapons. Sigs are good...Hks are unbeatable in reliability and durability.

If you're lucky enough to have a local range that rents range guns, take advantage of it and fire examples of both. You should have a clear winner after that. One will just have a better "feel" for you. If left with only the choice between Sig and HK, I personally would go with HK. I'm a southpaw, and Sigs are not exactly ambi-friendly. I find the Sig decocker hard to manipulate with my shooting hand. HK's can be set up for righties, lefties, or ambi. Good luck in your search. Searching for that first/next gun can be hella fun.

I HEART these threads!

LOL!

I love these threads! I think these are so funny!

Which is better? Which is the bestest? :neener:

Let's put it this way, with the H&K they have a reputation forged by forty years in the Spec Ops Community i.e. the German GSG-9 and the British SAS.

As to the Sig, they have a much similar reputation with the Navy Seals, Secret Service, Air Marshals etc.

So as has been said before pick what feels better for you. Don't listen to all the garbage about "H&K's are the UBER gun!" and my favorite, "all other guns quake at the H&k's majesty!" :neener:

I like H&K's, but I like Sigs better. Either way, be confident in your decision because the worlds best have tested them and find them as reliable and quality as it gets.

Can't go wrong with either one. Both are awesome. Take the one that feels best in your hand.

I own an HK P2000 and P2000sk, but my next guns will be Sigs in 9mm. I think both guns are great. For carry I think I will prefer the HK P2000 simply because it is generally going to be lighter and easier to carry then a 226. It is in the same size category as a 229 or 228 but I suspect the polymer frame will be eaiser to carry. Get what suits you best, both are great guns. Eventually you will get both.

Personally, I prefer Sigs.

But anyone who tells you over Teh Innernet that "Gun X is the bestest gun evar made and t00tally pawnages the others wish they were Gun X !!1!!!!" really is doing everyone a disservice.

Guns fit individuals like clothing; I've yet to see off-the-rack pants fit the same on two different people.

Best advice is to handle BOTH a Sig and an HK, if you can find somewhere to shoot both of them, even better. Buy the one YOU like, not the one that all the Innernet Howlers scream for you to buy so you will be in their k00l club...

I guarantee you that either gun will do you a lifetime of service and you would not be underarmed.

HK has the advantage of being able to be changed over from right hand to left hand, decock, double action only, etc. by an HK armorer with no real modifications to the gun other than a few parts swapped. However if you want a Single/Double action gun with a decocker and no external safety that you can carry with one in the chamber, decocked, but ready to fire instantly after drawing, the Sig is that, with an all-metal construction (I am of course referring to Sig P226/228/229/239).

Both makers are in military service around the world.

Buy what you want, not what strangers tell you to buy.

Ditto most of what's gone before.

You can bet your life on either of these firearms without a second thought, shoot and see what points for you.

I prefer the sigs personally, they fit my hand like magic. I also find the controls on the HK to be a little bulkier than I like (I understand that they are designed to be used while wearing gloves, which may explain, or may be internet hoo-hah).

No doubt the SIG----unless you are looking at getting a P7M8----then take your pick.

Here is my epinion:

I chose HK:
I think that the ligher polymer (HK) frame would be more comfortable for ccw.
Of the double action triggers I prefer the (HK) LEM trigger over the (SIG) DAK trigger.

Either are great guns you cant go wrong buy the one you like the best (and get a good deal).

Get what you shoot best. They're both excellent guns. I own the HK P2000 and Sig P229 and Sig P226 Navy in 9mm. They both will do their jobs as long as you do yours. I alternate between my HK P2000 and Sig P229 for carry.

Thanks for all the replys:) I think I have narrowed it down to either the USP compact or the Sig 226. They both feel very good (the USPc a little better) but no one in the area has any to rent :banghead:

Both are good, reliable weapons.

I had an H&K USP 9 and never really shot it much. Mine had a LONG and STIFF DA trigger. I traded it on a Sig P220.

I have several Sigs and think highly of them.

I regularly shoot my P226, USPf 9 and P2000.

They're all apples, to bananas to pears.

The USP and P2000 is similar in the sense that they're both polymer and made by HK. But the shootability of the two is different. The USP is bulkier, different (and less ergonomic) than the P2000. The P2000 feels more refined. Both are accurate and great shooters, but the SA is kind of heavy but clean. The DA on both is simply horrendous.

The SIG is a much easier gun for me to shoot. Smoother trigger, both in DA and SA. The bar dot sights are much better than the crap 3-dot sights on the HKs. But then again, my P2000 runs night sights while my USP runs Heinie straight 8 night sights.

For strictly a range gun, I'd easily pick my P226. For carry, I feel the HK is more durable to abuse, which my P2000 wins that one. The USP is just a space taker in my range bag. Still a fun gun to shoot.

I would solicit the unbiased opinions over at sigforum.com & hkpro.com

:neener::neener:

Just kidding.

Keep working hard so you don'thave to make the choice. Buy a P2000SK and a P229.
