Why is Big 5 "lame"? The store near us seems to have some rather good values for all sorts of sporting goods (guns included).

They are not a specialty store (for guns), but they have their own niche. Guns are just part of their inventory. Great deals on shoes and boots, when on sale.

Blue Brick -- that shotgun you posted looks like the same model as the NEF Pardner pump...Am assuming it's the same gun (heck -- the box for my Pardner came with both the H&R and NEF labels on it).

Anyways -- do you have a Dick's Sporting Goods in AZ? I got the Pardner on sale there for $199 plus a 10 dollar discount for a net $189...And now they've been advertising a sale price of $179.

I'm considering buying an H&R pump but so far haven't found anyone who has one and says it's a great gun. Should I pay a little more and go with the 870?

$159 at Walmart---which is flat out steal---just a replacement Moss or Rem barrel is that kind of money.

And ya---I like mine---bought a 20ga Youth model for HD duties----much more smooth and solid than any CURRENT 870 Express---and its half the cost.
