I have a chance to buy an H&R Premier .22 Topbreak, 2nd Model made between 1906-1908. Is this model for BP or Smokeless ? It is marked for Rim Fire, but will it shoot .22LR ? Can I shoot standard velocity or sub-sonic .22 ? Any advise will be appreciated . Thanks :)

According to the Blue Book (31st Ed., pg. 868), the Premier Second Model was made from 1905 to 1941 and "manufactured for smokeless cartridge pressures"

The question about appropriate ammo might be answered in post #3 of this thread:

The Mr. Goforth being quoted was the H&R expert who wrote the book.

edited to add: He said H&R never advertised that the gun would shoot .22 LR.
