I've now fired probably 500 rounds or so from my new H&R Topper Deluxe single-barrel shotgun, and while I love the gun to bits, I'm still experiencing intermittent problems with the ejector. Every once in a while (say, one round in 75 or so), the little ejector claw just seems to refuse to pop out, ejecting the spent round. I can't figure it out -- I've oiled the thing a number of times, and generally I oil it before every shooting session, but to no avail.

I can't figure it. This happens with factory loads, reloaded rounds... whatever. Shells chamber just fine, but sometimes they just don't eject. Weird.

Any ideas?

My guess is that there's a little grunge in there, Fish. It may work in. 500 rounds is just a good start. Let me take a look at it next time we shoot together.

Oil can be like a magnet for dirt and crud. Perhaps a thorough cleaning, and either leaving it dry or using a TINY drop of CLP, FP10 or something similar?
