I'm in a classroom with a lot of other people when someone stands up with a small gun and starts shooting. I stand up, draw, and try to squeeze the trigger - only the trigger feels like it's 75 pounds. Darn double-action first shot. As I'm trying to squeeze the trigger, I'm yelling at him to drop it. I get off one round and suddenly the trigger is normal again. I hit the guy 3-4 more times. He falls. I lower the gun and realize I've been shot. Everything goes black. Then I woke up.

Anyone else have dreams like this?

And should I switch to a SAO gun? :neener: I guess then I'd have dreams about not being able to get the safety off...

My wife had a nightmare abut being stuck in Massachussetts (we have friends there) when the zombies rise and since we cant bring our guns along legally, getting overwhelmed and killed.

But no, ive never had any dreams like that.

No offense man, but if zombies attacked I don't think a gun would do you much good. I mean, they're already dead. :p You'd eventually run out of ammo and have to run.

Rob- you need to watch more movies... a headshot does the trick every time!:neener:

I recently had a dream that three thugs busted into my house while I was cleaning my AR... it was about as close to a nightmare as one can get without actually being one. I was in the basement, I heard em come in and start breaking down the door to get to me, and I was scrambling to get the gun back together and load a mag with the few loose rounds that I just happened to have in my pockets and in the bottom of the range bag. Now that I think about it, if I ever decide to write a movie that would make for a good scene... it was terrifying!

Even with a SAO you'll still have dreams of a 75 pound trigger. My first dream had it all, 75lb trigger on a 1911 and weak ammo or just bad guys that didn't know to stay dead. I'd get good hits on the bad guys and they went down but would get back up a few minutes later. guess I was creating zombies.

Had a dream of me trying to kill a fox that was chewing on my ankle. All my kel-tec would do is make a phfffft sound!:banghead: :cuss: :fire: I guess I need to go back to the CZ.

Tiger in the Yard

I'm already in bed and my wife is on the back porch having a smoke, (I gave em up 2+ years ago.) She comes running in and yells at me that there is a tiger in the back yard. Just as I had rehearsed many times, I instinctively grab my S&W model 65 from the nightstand and my D-cell MAG-LITE from under the bed, I brush the dust bunnies off of the flashlight and run into the back yard while yelling at her to hide in the bedroom closet.

I quickly assess the tactical situation, its mano-al-gato, with no other predators in sight (tigers have been known to hunt in packs). I illuminate the beast and his eyes glow red with anger, he shifts his weight back on his rear haunches and prepares his attack. A head shot seems the best option. I assume the classic Weaver stance.

I calmly cock the hammer, staging the 3-inch Stainless Steel revolver with rosewood grips into single action mode, and carefully select a point-of-aim directly in between the carnivore’s eyes. I slowly allow the first pad of my index finger to apply ever-so-slightly-increasing pressure on the trigger, and never deviate from my aim point. I'm certain that it will take only one of my carefully selected and well tested COR-BON 125 grain, .357 hollow points traveling at 1250 fps, to quickly dispatch the beast to kitty heaven, and also win the never-ending gratitude and affections of an adoring wife.

The instant the hammer is about to drop........... the cylinder flies open and all of the cartridges disapear into the earthly darkness. My moment of weakness has been sensed, 800 lbs of Pi$$ed-off, night vision impaired and snarling Bengal tiger comes hurtling through the inky blackness of a moonless night...........and I wake up.

SON-OF-A-BISCUIT, another one of those stupid gun dreams. Lesson learned, next time I bring the Sig P239.

I had a weird dream like this a couple nights back...

I was in some sort of an office where a lot of people were working (or had been trying to work). I dunno how I got there - that's just where the dream seemed to start. Some guy was raising a fuss, yelling and throwing things around and threatening the office workers. He was not obviously armed.

My first impulse was to pull up my untucked red plaid shirt (same as I was wearing that day) and draw my revolver and hold him at gunpoint until the police came. But on second thought, I started talking to him - don't remember what I said but ironically it was the kind of touchy-feely stuff that the pacifist anti-self-defense folks tell you to say when somebody gets violent at work/school/etc.

I kept my distance (maybe 10-12') and he calmed enough for some of the folks to get out of the way, before I woke up.

What amazed me about the whole dream was how calm I was feeling and acting in the dream, knowing that I had deadly force at my disposal just underneath my shirt.

I've had the same re=occuring dream since I was a kid about a BG that I'd shoot with my Dad's pistol and the BG falls, I turn around to go back in the house and the next thing I know he's grabing me from behind.:what: The first time I had that dream after I got married my wife thought I was trying to kill her as I yelled and tried to run at the same time. Needless to say we got a bigger bed after that.:D

Yes, 4 nights ago. I went to sleep. At about 3:00 a.m., someone kicked the door right off the hinges. I reached for my pistol and shouted the them to stop. (I remember exactly what I screamed but it isn't very high road.) :) Needless to say, they didn't stop...2 did stop, and one kept advancing. I fired 4 rounds into the advancing perp and dropped him in his tracks.

As I trained my .45 Colt on the remaining perps, my wife slugged me in the arm and woke me up. She said, "Wake-up...you're screaming for someone to drop the guns! You must have been dreaming!" She gave me a cleaner version of my shouting.

That 75-pound trigger problem must be because you need a Colt 1911 in .45 ACP! My trigger pulled just fine. :neener:

I must hang out here too much! I have dreams all the time about gun fights, and guns not working when I need them. Guns have become an obsession for me... Can't get enough. ;)

Do what I did, get an XD! Passive safety and SAO! 14 rounds of .45ACP will usually do the job.

I've had dreams too, where the trigger is impossibly hard to pull. Once I finally get off a shot, it was so hard to pull that I inevitably missed. During the second pull of the trigger I'm usually already screwed.
This never happens during zombie dreams though. I'm very zombie-prepared, so I consider zombie dreams good ones, rather than nightmares. I'm either picking them off through the window with my mosin (haven't had a dream with sniping with the G22 + reddot yet) or mowing them down with the mossberg500. Funny enough, I haven't used a pistol in any of those dreams yet. I think it's because sniping and evaporating heads with a 12ga just seems like more fun to me :D

I once had a dream where I was at the battle of Bastogne during WW2. I was unarmed & had to deliver a message by hand to the guy in charge of directing mortar attacks.

Then I had to cross a wheatfield while being chased by raptors*. I managed to get to my objective because the german mortars blew up one of the raptors behind me. Then I woke up.

Weird dream considering I'm 19 & the closest I've ever been to Bastogne was watching Band of Brothers.

*Yes raptors:uhoh: .

I used to have the dream of the impossibly heavy trigger pull. It went away at the same time I finally worked through my flinch.

The other night, I had a dream that I had a 1911 instead of my Glock. I was fumbling around, trying to get it to work as the bad guys were approaching. I shot a 1911 (awake) recently and it got me wanting one, but I realize I don't know too much about them. My dreams seem to mirror my concerns.

I used to dream that I had my Kel-Tec P11 (since traded off) but the trigger was so spongy and mushy that I got to the end of the trigger pull, but no shot, the trigger kept mushing on back.

My Glock has never malfunctioned in my dreams!

Then there's my Taurus model 85 stainless whose trigger pull keeps getting so heavy and stiff that I can't pull it with both hands... but that's in real life! :fire:

Most people have 'naked' dreams. Gun nuts like ourselves have zombie dreams, terrorist dreams, SHTF dreams, and FTF dreams. :p I've had a couple zombie dreams in the past, and one fairly recently where I ran out of ammo and had to resort to smashing their heads in with the buttstock of my AR. Yes, in the dream, it was an effective tactic.:)

I've also had dreams where I was a Space Marine from the Blizzard game, Starcraft, where I was with my fellow Marines and Firebats (basically, flamethrower troops) and we were being zergling rushed. It's one of those 'repeat dreams' that I have when I get sick, am under a lot of stress, or sleep really poorly, and is damn terrifying. If you've seen the game's intro movie (maybe it's the one to the expansion, I'm not sure) with the camera close in and the Space Marine screaming in terror, you're got an idea what this dream is like. It's like my soul itself is screaming in pure terror throughout the dream, and I wake up just as I'm about to be devoured by a swarm of zerglings every time - but not before all my friends are likewise turned to pulp. Surprisingly, I never played all that much Starcraft back in the day...

I've had a couple CCW dreams, but they were really murky and indistinct. I think one of them, fairly recently, involved the inability to pull the trigger - because my thumb was immobilized and wouldn't disengage the safety.

As a kid, shortly after my dad teaching me all about my new 22 (model 60), I had this nightmare-
We (dad, mom, lil' sis and I) come home and the devil is in the dining room. My dad started yelling at him, I reached into the hall closet to grab the 22 and the devil tells me to sit on the couch. I did, he was talking to me when all of the sudden he started eating me from the feet up. I don't remember him ever getting past my waist though. I had this nightmare quite a few times.

As an adult my nightmare has changed and it does involve a malfunctioning firearm...Imagine if you will the frosty fall mountain morning in the Rockies of Montana, you've been up since 0430 hiking into the meadow. As you crest the top of the last ridge, still in the timber you hear the unmistakable bellow of a bull on the prowl. You position is perfect, you peer through the edge of the timber to spot the largest bull you ever laid eyes on. We're talking a B&C 450+. You pull up, oh he's perfect, broadside...you squeeze...click...he looks up...you cycle the bolt for the next round...click...the next thing you see is BEEP>>>BEEEP...darn alarm clock anyway.

This is a test. This was only a test. I FOUND A CURE!!!!

I have had a recurring dream for as long as I remember that I was being attacked, different attackers/animals every time. Every time my .45 fails. Either stovepipes the round or the trigger pull is 100#s.

So, this led me to sell my .45 Llama Minimax and buy a .40 Sig Sauer 226.

AMAZING!!! I killed a bear last night. It was great! Pulled the trigger, perfect placement, clean kill. Can't wait for bedtime!!!!!!!

I used to frequently have dreams about my weapons being ineffective when I tried to use them. It would happen with knives as well as firearms. All of those dreams went away after I had my first taste of real combat. My weapons never failed me there, and I have never had any dreams that they did since that time.

I had one, one time. I was driving (18 wheeler, which is what I do for a living) when I heard a shot behind me, from the sleeper area. The windshield cracked, with the bullethole right in front of where my head would have been, if i hadn't been reaching for a soda, just that minute. Then, I somehow had to open the curtain, see what was going on, draw my 1911 from between my hip and the seat, without fouling it in my shirt, and control the truck at the same time. I finally got the pistol free, and stood up to dispatch the stowaway, when I heard the screeching noises of the truck crashing.

Seems like a silly way to die, win a gunfight, but lose the argument with the bridge abutment.

I've had dreams like that but I was having to defend myself with a knife or my hands and I would alway move really slow, almost like I was underwater.

Bump for a dead but highly interesting thread. I never fail to be amazed at the similarities between other people's dreams and my own.

Any moar?
