Have you ever had a dream in which you can't shoot?

In my dreams the gun always works, but I can never hit anything with it,no matter how close I am.

They seem to work the opposite way also. I've been shot in dreams, and realize after the initial fear and shock that it didn't really hurt that much. The bad guys then gets upset that I'm not dying and keep trying to shoot me.
Following the horrible shooting,I often dream that I get shot after I run out of ammo, but it doesn't harm me or slow me down at all. Then I struggle with the bad guy/monster/whatever but neither one of us gets hurt or stopped.

Now for a bizarre tale: I dreamed a few nights ago that I was woken by scratching at the front window, looked out and saw zombies.I gave my wife the bedside shotgun and went outside with my other shotgun and an AR-15. Now the zombies turned out to be three guys from my church, only now they were the living dead.

Coming around the corner of the house I took out their knees with #00 so they couldn't move, then walked up and executed the two closest. When I got to number three, laying there with no legs,he started screaming,"Don't shoot, man,it was a joke!We thought we would scare you,we're not zombies! PLEASE DON'T KILL ME!" He swiped his hand across his face,"See?It's just make-up!"

The nausea hit me when I realized I had killed two of my friends and crippled a third. I woke up and thought I was gonna hurl in the sheets. Freaky.

Im honestly glad you posted this, cause I have dreams like that ocassionaly...heavy trigger, they dont go down, they dont stay down...never realized these dreams were so common to others also.Im not a peace officer or military but still get them.
I often dream about nukes going off also,I never get away....not a fun dream

In my one recurring dream, my gun fires the first round and then jams. I always wake up when I look down and try and hit the back of the slide to make it go into battery.

The part that worries me is that I know how to clear the jam, but in my dream I always do it wrong and never clear it.

All of these sound like variations of the old someone's-chasing-me-and-my-legs-won't-move nightmare that most people have occasionally. Google "sleep paralysis" and you'll learn what causes these dreams. Your body is paralyzed when you sleep so you won't act out your dreams and sometimes the feeling of paralysis intrudes into the dream and becomes part of it. Very common.

I have had similar dreams where the trigger squeeze is extremely heavy or when fired the bullet just falls out the end of the barrel. OTOH axes and knives have great effect.

I had my Tetanus shot yesterday. (Still feel like crap. :( ) Whenever my immume system is at Defcon 1 (Like when you get a Vaccination) I have nightmares. The one I had last night was a group of thugs on my front yard. One pulled a gun and the rest came after me. I was armed with my Enfield 2A in .308 in this dream. I shot one, and hit another in the face with the butt of the rifle. I worked the bolt and shot the one with the pistol. The one I had hit in the face got his bearings again so I shot him. Another one came at me with a knife while another went for his the pistol of the shot thug. I shot the thug with the knife in the leg and he fell, then shot the one going for the gun. I had to shoot the knife thug again because he was still trying to come after me. Another thug tried to come around the corner to get me and I shot him.

Figuring that they where already in my house I better move down the street. I knew I was getting low on ammo in the rifle, so I started to reload (one at a time since I have no stripper clips for this gun.) as I was moving down the street. Sure enough, more thugs came from behind my house and started to come after me. They started shooting at me with pistols, but I was halfway down the block (At least 60 yards.) and since I had a rifle, I had the advantage. I started shooting back and got quite a few of them. I reloaded again and realized that I only had 11 rounds left and I should do more running and less shooting. I was several blocks away from my house when my alarm clock went off and woke me up.

It was all very realistic, none of the "unlimited ammo, or "unicorns with flamethrowers" type deals. Also, to my dismay, I was armed only with my 110 grain plinker .308 handloads, though they did the job just fine in my dream.

I used to have dreams that I had to shoot the BG with my 9mm and they didn’t have any effect, he just soaked them up. So I’d pull my .45 and when I’d shoot it, the bullets traveled slow enough to visually follow their flight, then they’d just bounce off. I chalk it up to reading the ‘experts’ too much.

The best remedy is to go shoot some fruit.

I had a dream a few weeks ago, where I ran out of ammo while trying to fend off a horde of zombies, and ended up getting bitten :(

My rather novel solution was to find a werewolf and get that to bite me, as (at least in my dream), lycanthropy overrides zombification, and becoming a werewolf would be better than becoming a zombie.

That was my third THR-inspired dream, although the other two went much better. In the first, I single-handedly saved a village from bandits. I had an old lever rifle, and they all had AKs, but they were all running round shooting from the hip, so couldn't hit anything, whereas I was lying prone taking proper aim. (This was shortly after joining THR, when one of the main topics of discussion was the soon-to-expire AWB, and debunking all the claims made by the VPC etc about "accurately spray-firing from the hip").

The second dream had me involved in a shoot-out with some gangstas. (They had 9mm's; I had a 1911. 'Nuff said ;))

The worst "equipment failure" dream I've had was nothing to do with guns. I dreamt I was operating a dock crane, when the mechanism malfunctioned, and the crane started spinning round increadibly fast. I couldn't stop it, and it was going too fast for me to safely jump off.

The wierd thing was - in the dream, I realised I was dreaming, and thought to myself "This doens't matter - all I need to do is wake up." But I couldn't wake up. Then I started slipping down the steps of the crane towards the ground, where I would be crushed between the ground and the spinning body of the crane. All the while, I was trying desparately not to fall, while screaming "Wake up! Wake up!" (I don't know if I was actually screaming in my sleep, or if it was just in the dream, but it certainly felt like it). When I did finally wake up, it took me a few seconds to realise I had actually woken, during wich time I was desparately trying to grab hold of something to stop myself falling down.
