and it just makes me all excited to shoot it again!... This 1911 has been worked pretty hard and was starting to show... not that its a bad thing but i was going to buy a Kimber Eclipse but figured i love my Springer and it needed some touchup so off to the shop it went.

The guy did a fantastic job, very sharp lines, very durable so far (glock like finish)... Absolutely love it all over again. Just need to get some cool grips for it next :D Any suggestions? Black/Grey, overall dark i think would look good

Anyhow, like a proud papa :p

Absolutely beautiful! Can you give us some more detail on who did the work and the finish. Is that hard chrome with a black paint finish?

Sweet Jesus that is beautiful. What did that cost you? That is exactly the kind of finish I'm looking into getting on my first 1911.

The Finish is "DiamondKote" and like i said, feels exactly like my glocks... Has that Teflon pan type feel to it. Im glad it came out that way because i was expecting it to be chalky like a parkerized finish but it turned out like a glock... ALMOST like my kimber's finish but more slippery.

I dropped it off at a local shop in San Antonio called "Nagels"... Took just shy of 3 weeks.

Someone mentioned hard chrome, and its not. the bare metal is Stainless that he kept a "grain" like angle from front to back. Almost like it was laid flat on a belt sander so it got 1 universal direction.

that would be nice... I really want a 1911 in something other than .45

I have a Dan Wesson 10mm thats getting a bobtailed grip and after that im going to get a .40 conversion barrel for it. .45's are still hard to find and expensive... .40 is everywhere.

Springfield and Kimber both offer this color combo out of the box.

Yeah, I know. But the Kimber and Springfield finish out of the box don't look as dark as yours. Is that a trick of the camera, or are the black parts on your 1911 really that black?

The Eclipse finish and the SA one are more of a grayish, parkerized black.

The refinish job looks terrific! I think you did the correct thing. Nothing like putting a facelift on an old friend.

Wow! One question -- have you made it too beautiful to carry? Probably a dumb question, but that is one nice looking piece.

I went through Nagles Gun Shop in San Antonio, Tx.

I "THINK" they had it done by a 3rd party.... someone they use but doesnt work out of their shop.
