Hi,

I have been in the lookout for a 332 for sometime now and I have not had any success. I have my eye on a new 331 at a local shop but as you know the 331 has an exposed hammer. I was ondering if anyone has any experiance with the Waller aftermarket hammer shrouds shown on this web page?

I suppose I would just ruin the value of the gun.

Thanks

Haven't tried the Wallers on S&W but have on Colts. They're a very well made product.

Looks like they cover the upper part of the backstrap. I guess that's okay if you don't grip the gun up there.

Well it's just a suggestion, but Ruger makes an SP101 with a bobbed hammer. That way you can preserve your Smith or Colt. That's what I did and I left my Detective Special alone. If not FullMetalJacket has a good idea.

On an S&W snubby, I wouldn't bother with a hammer shroud, I would just buy the concealed hammer version. They made the hammer shroud primarily for Colts, since Colt didn't offer a concealed hammer revolver.

A drawback to the bobbed hammer is that it still can be a problem if you have to shoot from the pocket; even without the spur, the hammer can catch on the fabric.

Re: Full Metal Jacket's suggestion.. That's what I did.. cost me $15.00.
Now I have both options.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies guys. I never thought about a bobbed hammer. Can someone recommned a gunsmith? I have heard Clarks custom guns is good. Anyone have any experiance with them?

Thanks

Once you make the decision for a bobbed hammer, you don't need a gunsmith, just a bench grinder. You don't even need to disassemble the gun if you are reasonably careful.
