The same lawyer could argue that you could have used your .22 with shorts to defend yourself, but you knowingly chose a more powerful centerfire.
I live in a very blue state. The last thing I want to happen is to fall victim to the knock out game and blast some kid as he's putting the boots to me only to read this headline the next day.
"Gun wielding nationalist shoots unarmed youth with custom made ammo."
IIRC, canister gun powders we use are sold with microscopic markers to indicate powder origin location, manufacture date, etc.How would they even know if you don't tell them? If I handload Gold Dot bullets back into Speer brass, how would they know the difference?
I suspect using the handload argument would be taken by the defense and jury as a sign of a very weak case. That an overzealous prosecutor will use your handloads against you in court is an interesting theory that is as of yet unproven.
I didn't see any of that in my powderIIRC, canister gun powders we use are sold with microscopic markers to indicate powder origin location, manufacture date, etc.
And we all know ammunition manufacturers do not use "canister" powders that we use ...
