I have a De Santis pocket holster on its way for my Sig P238. I also have an OWB leather holster.

So depending upon what I wear, I am covered. I love the Sig P238 in .380acp. Very accurate, small and light.

be safe.

I would love to carry my g19 on these outings but it just isn't possible for me to carry the full size firearms with my athletic clothes while running/walking. I have done the 5.11 fanny pack thing before but I prefer to go as light as possible when in the Texas summer heat.

My path typically keeps me in semi-upscale suburbia so I am willing to trade firepower and caliber for convenience of carry on these outings.

I'm of a similar mind. Most of the time, I carry nothing while out running; if I'm out on a hot day for 8+ miles then I'm bringing a fuel belt with water and something to eat and there's room for pepper spray to ride along.

I don't want to be a victim–not of violent crime, but also not heart disease, diabetes, or complications related to obesity.

I hike with a SW340 PD.

As far as hitting the target, I can drawn and hit a 4" steel gong at 10 yards, 5 times in 5 seconds, with carry 357 ammo.

Once.

After that, I am done shooting for the day.

And then I have a date with Advil. :D

I carry my LC9S along for jogs and walks with my dog. I'm very happy with it.

If you're using a belly band holster, a small, thin semi-auto would be less bulky & bulgy than a pocket revolver. Nothing wrong with a 642 though, I've owned one and liked it.

My preference for the revolver is due to the round edges. I get fewer "hot spots" on my skin with the revolver as compared to semis. It is not a deal breaker but an observation.

Seems to me getting another 642 is the way to go. You already like it, know it carries well, they're light as a feather, and around here, used they're just about giving them away.

I use to own & love an S&W 642 Centenial in .38+p+ that was wonderful for carry, but I couldn't shoot it worth a hoot & the trigger had a sharp edge that tended to tear up part of my trigger fin(er. Got rid of it for ar SP101 that I shot very well but was just too big & heavy for discrete pocket carry, my preferred mode of carry.

A year or two back I finally found my ideal compact carry gun, a Ruger KLCR in .357, carried w/ .38+p's and eqipped with a CT laser grip. Extraordinarily easy to carry, great trigger, shoots VERY well and I trust it implicitly.
