Old School Cool

1911 blue steel 5"
SW 66 2 1/2" bbl
SW 65 3" bbl
SW 638/642
SW 29 4" (Saw a few of these as a kid on Chicago Cops for "back-up".)

All old school for old men. All with holster wear, used but not abused. They make me think of the old saying. "Never fight an old man, he's too tired to fight and will just kill you outright."

One that I think is cool is one of those polished chrome/nickel/stainless Colt .38 Supers, with the spur hammer and GI-style sights, as well as maybe grips fashioned out of ivory or mother-of-pearl. Very '70s, very fly.

.44 magnum automag!!!

i think one of the coolest looking and performing handguns in the world is the .44 magnum automag and the coolest revolver is a s&w model 27 6" .357 magnum with smooth target grips!!

Any mainstream Beretta of the last 50 years of course. Can't beat the looks of that open top slide. It's Italian, and certified cool by John McClane and James Bond. Need I say more?

mateba.

1911a1

luger 8 inch barrel.

Peacemaker

webley revolvers, holmes had one.

18th century duelling pistols.

howdah pistols.

HK Mark 23 "Hammer of Thor" SOCOM
Walther PPK (Bond, James Bond)
S&W Model 29 (Dirty Harry)
HK P7 (Die Hard)
AK-47/M-60 (Rambo)
Colt 1911 Government (John Browning)

If by cool you mean...

You break one out at the range and people wander over, seeing if they can try a shot, maybe...

Desert Eagle .50 (I am told they are now called "Deagles." Ugh!)

SW .460 XVR snubbie  (you can walk people up from .45 Cowboy, .45 SD, .45 Hunting, .454, and .460--and see where they call, "No mas!")

Any revolver built by Hamilton Bowen, or finished by Doug Turnbull, or gripped by Roy Fishpaw. Or all three. Someday.

My other choices are historics, and have been said.

IMO, an amazing pistol...

Arnold sported one in "True Lies" and Antonio Banderas had two in "Desperado," but how come the P90 Ruger never caught on?

It is a cool gun from te side views.

In any case, I think the market was cleaned out of the USP Match pistols, after the "Tomb Raider" movie came out.

Mel Gibson's Beretta 92
Steven Segal's 1911's
Saving Pvt Ryan, the Cpt's Thompson, and the .45 pistol he used to shoot at the Tiger tank in the last scene
The Krinkov that the Mideast terrorist used in True Lies
The Mac 10 from the old movie "The Soldier"

Do Chuck Norris' hands count? :D

In no particular order and not confusing cool with efficient in some cases...
Broomhandle
Luger
Webley revolvers
Colt SAA
Colt 1911

I vote also for the Broom Handle Mauser. Winston Churchhill had two in the Boer War and Han Solo had one in Star Wars. Doesn't get cooler than that!

The C96 Mauser 'Bolo' Broomhandle with the shorter grip and 3.9" barrel. Perhaps not the most tactical or comfortable handgun to use, but two thumbs up when it comes to cool.

The Artillery P08 Luger with the 8" barrel, rifle stock and 32 round 'snail drum' magazine. Oh and the leather carrying strap.Very Cool.

As pointed out earlier these cool guns have nothing to do with ergonomics, tactical practicality, or engineering simplicity.
