Has ammo price/availibility changed your range habits?

Nope. About two years ago I decided I wanted to improve my shooting.

I started going to the range once a week, shooting 100 rounds of .22LR followed by 25-50 rounds of centerfire pistol or revolver ammo. I also started reloading and buying components in moderation (but regularly).

At this point, I can maintain this habit almost indefinitely. And my shooting ability has improved measurably. :)

Hasn't changed much. I reload & was fairly well stocked with componets & .22 before Nov. 3rd.
I go a couple of times a month.
I went today to shoot center fire rifle 500 yds, but only about 20 rounds.
I'll be going back tomorow to shoot a rimfire match.
I also just spend time at the range helping with the Scouts, 4-H, etc (& scrounging brass after IDPA matches).

Not really. I just accept that I have to spend more time shopping for components and buy in bulk when I find what I need. For the time being the days of just running to the shop for a lb. of powder or a small box of primers are over.

Gosh, yes.

I started reloading a couple of years ago when ammo costs first began rising and casting a few months ago. Having dramatically reduced my cost to shoot, I can afford much more ammo than before. In addition, there's the motivation to try more different loads that drives me to the range more often.

small primers are killing me I only have 300 left. I do have 3500 loaded 223 cases. but I reload for three of us. so we shoot alot more 22 and 17 rimfires they seem to be everywhere and the 22 is the best bang for our buck.

No, but having bought a good bit of ammo in '08 (7,000 rds.+), shoot some .22 to reduce the need to shoot much 7.62x39/54R or surplus .303.
Just traded 1,900 rds. of .223 (+ $20) for 2,000 rds. x39 during a long road trip on Saturday.
My trading partner is a really good guy, highly recommended, and he would have traded for even more.

The fear of high fuel and commodity prices (in spring/summer '08) staying high gave me the incentive to buy all that I could afford.
When the election came, it was very baffling that legions of experienced shooters had assumed that the GOP would probably win, contrary to most indications in the press.
Mob mentality was the result.

Yes. I have the ammo, but don't want to shoot it. I just get a little range time with my CCW and that's all.

I am sure glad I started building up my ammo stock years ago for my retirement days. I am still buying, when the price is reasonable, to re supply what I shoot.

Yes, my range time has changed from two times per month to one time. This was done because of my shooting partners lack of ammo, but I still shoot 9MM, .40 cal and 12 ga. The combined total is about a thousand rounds per month. Hope to start shooting the Mosin Nagent 91/30 if the ammo ever comes in, been waiting a whole 3 days still about a week away.

I only shoot 30 rounds of pistol ammo per trip, and work a lot more on my mag changes by loading one shot into each.

With rifles, I spend a lot more time lining up and firing one shot, even with a .22. With others, I just limit the amount of ammo I bring.

And with shotguns...well, I just have fun with those, since there's no shortage of ammo.

Wonder of wonders, I walked into a local WallyWorld today and scored not one but two boxes of 100-round Winchester WB in 9mm. It's the first time that I have seen any in almost five months, and I'm on regular weekly Ammo Patrol at three WallyWorlds in my general area. One box was on the shelf. I asked for it and mentioned to the clerk that I hadn't seen any in months. He asked if I wanted another and then reached under the counter and pulled out the second box. Amazing. The store also had a box of .32 Winchester WB on hand, but nothing else ... not even .22.

I guess this means that I'll make a trip to the range with the Walther P5 this weekend.

No - I still go to the range every weekend, sometimes twice. Reloading helps feed my addiction. Free brass from the range, I can get cast bullets from a few manufacturers within a week, shooting pistols doesn't require large amounts of powder and we're fairly well stocked around here, primers are a challenge so I pick up a couple of thousand whenever I run across them. I haven't run out of ammo yet knock on wood. The M4 (6.8SPC) on the other hand, I've had trouble finding bullets and small rifle primers. I still have a good stock of components to keep me going for a while.

I still shoot over 100,000 rnds a yr, i do find myself shooting the M16 and or AC556 with the .22 kit in them more now then used to when i just go out in backyard and shoot for the hell of it. If i go out with the guys or family i take the kits out and play with them in full strength. It does suck havin to pay the big prices.

If it gets to the point of ammo, even 223 being $4rnd for wolf....im still gonna shoot, that may slow me down but it wont make me quit, i have a unhealthy relationship with my firearms.

Yes. I am also unemployed and the price of ammo is way out of my range. Whats sad is my grandson is begging me to take him shooting.

Well I came home from the range today with 100 rounds of unfired ammo, so maybe. Truth is it was a good range session and I was satisfied with what I had done.:)

I'm comfortable with my ammo supply so I just try to replace what I shoot each month now.

Yes, used to practice once every couple weeks. Now it is relegated to my air rifle in my back yard. That being said I feel my trigger/breathing control is better as the air rifle is unforgiving and will reveal any mistakes such as slapping the trigger.

I still try to do the same as before, i.e. one trip to the range per week; 200 rounds of 9mm a time. It hasn't cut me down yet, I've managed to weather it, but obviously is costing me more. The longer the drought goes on, the higher the chance I'll start cutting back.

However, recent signs are that there does sem to be some (slight) improvement in ammo pricing, so maybe its taken a turn for the better? Sure hope so....
