Have Glock G27, Next 40sw: G23 or G22?

Good evening,

Enjoy learning from this site quite often and finally have a decent enough reason to post

I own a Glock 27 which I love and am looking to add another 40sw Glock to my stable.

I am torn between the 23 and 22 and really cannot decide. Both feel good, both shoot good... Would it be silly to go to a 23 since it is so close to the 27? Is the 22 that much more GUN than the 23? Carrying really isnt a concern as I am in a state with perhaps the loosest carry laws.

Which would you guys pick up to join a 27, a 23 or 22? I really cant decide.

You've already got the best carry/general purpose .40 Glock to me, why not go with a drastically different one? You can buy a 22 top end and have both, then all you'd be missing is the 24 and the 23. Honestly, I had a 27, then got a 23, it was a great gun, an excellent balance of size and everything else, I just for some reason never liked it as much as the 27.

I'd go either 23 to have a next size up carry gun identical to your normal one, or a 35 to have some real variation.

I want to be able to carry all my guns (not openly) and have no interest in gaming - do you think the 35 is easily carryable for CCW and the trail? Or is merely just for range fun?

Neither I have sold all 4 40's I had other than my EMP which I decided I may sell or trade now. Honestlly get a 30 or a 36, either that or go for a 29, the 40 is just a snappy 9mm, may as well get the 10 or 45.I have experienced every pistol round in 4 decades and I shoot 45 and 9 the best. Most people do thats' why the gun companys make so many, And at 1350 fps it's no slouch, Or get a 357 sig. the 40 is the only round I have ever had a problem with as far as extreme accuracy goes, some people love them, but some hate them. Go for a big hole with your HD gun.
You may want to look at the 45 gap also.

Well, on the trail I think the 23 starts to make a hair more sense, just because it's about as big a gun as you can easily always carry with a t-shirt, has a great balance of capacity and size, and you don't really want the heaviest gun you can have on you in the woods.

If you wear your holsters right, I bet a 35 wouldn't be significantly harder to conceal comfortably than a 22, but for the woods and always concealed, the 23 is making more sense.

I shot the 27 better though. That might make all the difference to you. Any friends have any of the frame sizes in question?

You know, Gym's suggestion to check out the GAP is a good one. They don't carry a ton of rounds, but they're respectable, and the GAP Glocks have always had a reputation for accuracy, and the people who own them seem to adore them.

And the GAP is really no more expensive than ACP, sometimes less. Especially when talking about the duty-oriented JHP loads, a lot of them are mostly made for state agencies, so the normal uncommon cartridge-expensive ammo dichotomy doesn't really apply to the GAP like it would to say the 9x25mm Dillon.

So which .357 sig would you get - the 32 or 31

Not saying I disagree with you, but I just shoot the .40 reasonably well and already own some 9 and .45 glocks...

A G35 would be my recommendation as well. I'm a 9mm shooter but my preference is definitely for the longer barrel 34 & 17L as I shoot those much better than the shorter barrel versions. A 24 would be neat as well, but is probably more than you'd want to try and conceal.

I would have voted 23 but I have all three, CTC lasers on them all and a couple of 357 Sig barrels. Why deny yourself, life is short.

You can get .357 barrels for the 35 and 24 as well.

23 ith out a doubt. I don't own, or have any experience wi the 23. But I do own a G19 and it's my EDC. It's the perfect size handgun IMO. My G19 will remain my EDC until it can't be shot any longer.

Go with the G23. It's for more versatile because it's compact if you want to conceal it, you can always carry it OWB if necessary, and it takes the full size G22 mags. Its a no brainer IMO.

It's carryable.

My taste is for the 9mm Glocks, but my experiences have been similar to yours. I've had a Glock 19 on and off for years. I held off on getting a Glock 26 for a long time because I figured a gun that small couldn't be much fun to shoot. I was wrong, and now if I had to get rid of the Glock 19 or Glock 26 I don't know what choice I would make. While they're both excellent guns, the reasons for that excellence are very similar.

I bought a Glock 34 earlier this year as a fun gun/IDPA gun. Turns out it's actually quite carryable too. When I put it side by side with my 1911, they're different dimensions but similar enough in size that I would say if you can carry a 1911 (and you can) you can handle the marginal width difference of a Glock 34/35.

To give you an idea, I can snap a couple pics this afternoon of the Glocks and 1911 side by side if you like.

The one Glock I really don't have much interest in owning other than to complete the 9mm line is a Glock 17. It just doesn't have a purpose for me. Carry guns are more than covered by the Glock 19/26. The Glock 34 is a stellar range gun, and I'll probably also bring it along for hunting. I'm confident with any of the 3 to serve as an HD weapon if I decided to go with a handgun. Any could serve as a trail gun, but I prefer .357 revolvers for that roll. The full size Glock 17/22 is a duty gun, which means it's a solution for a problem I just don't have. YMMV.

I see other suggestions already being thrown around.

I have no use for the 17, 22, 20 size pistols.
When the height exceeds 5'' the grip becomes harder to conceal (I know it can be done, I've carried full size 1911's concealed IWB, but additional height over 5'' increases likelihood of printing which is unacceptable for me).

Other than the 23:

I prefer the 30SF (45 acp) or 29SF (10mm) these are just short enough in length that I can appendix carry them.
I tried appendix carrying my 23 one day and although you wouldn't think the extra 1/4'' length over the 29SF would matter, it was all it took to be intolerable.

I see you are considering the 32. It is a good alternate to the 23. The 357 Sig has more blast but less recoil than the 40 S&W and the bottleneck design is inheriently feed reliable.

If I were only going to have one .40 cal Glock, it would be the 23. But since you already have the 27, I would get the 22

I have a 19 and a 26. I had a 17 and a 34, also...all gen4's with no issues.

I got rid of the 17 because it didn't do anything the 34 couldn't do better. I eventually got rid of the 34 because I just don't like full size glocks.

I'll keep the subcompact 26 and the compact 19. The 19/23 just "feel right" in my hands and I shoot well with them. The full size and competition models just don't do it for me, I don't like them. I loved the sight radius on the new model, but only if I can get it on a 19 frame.

But many people love the full size frames, I'm just not one of them. To each his or her own. Shoot both, see which you like best. I like to carry the 19 in the winter (or anytime I can dress around it) and the 26 in the summer when I'm wearing less clothes.
