I saw a Kel-tec 32 for $149 used.I was thinking about one as back-up to my 642...the "other pocket"gun.Is there a huge difference between a 32 and 380 in such a gun?I saw a 380 for $250,which isn't doable right now,were as $150 is.So what do we think?And who has a Kel-tec and do you like it?thanks

If the shop will give you a two to four week used gun warranty/exchange period go for it. The warranty/exchange period is insurance so you can test it and make sure you didn't inherit someone else's problem gun. This should be considered on any used gun purchase.

As to the piece itself, the .32 will be a bit more controllable than the .380. Look at ballistic gel tests and decide for yourself on a carry load, but I'd recommend FMJ in a .32. As a Kel-Tec .380 and S&W J frame owner I'll tell you that I really like my P3AT. The ultra slim and ultra light charecteristics of the KT P3 series. They make a great "always" gun for when a J frame is just a bit bulky or heavy. The price of $150 is good for a used P32 as well. If you want it now go for it. If you'd be happy carrying your 642 while you saved some more pennies for a new P32 or P3AT that's another great option. Do what you feel is best.

I like the extra round and slightly lighter/smaller package of the P32. KelTec has great service and will fix any problem you have, and do an upgrade at the same time a pistol is in.

I've carried a Kel-Tec P-32 for about 4 years now and I can't complain. It's served me well and hasn't given me any problems.

I initially got it as a backup to replace my Colt Mustang (that I sold in a fit of madness :( :banghead: ). However, I seem to be carrying more as a primary now due to weather/clothing options (shorts & t-shirt wear) making my Glock Model 30 harder to carry concealed.

I, like may Euro nations, have faith that the .32 ACP is enough to get the job done. So, don't discredit the round. However, if you feel like it's not enough than get the .380 version.

I prefer the 32 to the 380 Kel Tec for the following reasons:

I believe the extra round offsets the SLIGHTLY larger size

I like the hold open feature.

For $150 I'd buy it in a heart beat and if there was a problem rely on their 100%, no question, warrenty... (And NOT return it to the gunshop)

-I now Carry a 357 as a BUG but that does not reflect on the Kel Tec except in the fact that it's not a 357.

I would prefer the .380 personaly , but for the price difference you cited would go with the .32 and go to ktog.org or ktrange.com and go thro it as they recommend . As i understand it the .32 kel-tec can suffer from " rim lock " it is easily fixed , but needs to be fixed for a ccw arm .

if you use fiocchi 32 it is loaded to euro specs and is much hotter it closes gap between 32 and 380.IMHO p32 would serve you well.

I bought a used 1st gen. p32 last summer. Even though I'm not a huge fan of mouseguns, Ive been pretty happy with this little gun. The issue of rim lock mostly occurs with shorter HPs. I've never had a problem with FMJ. After I tested the gun long enough to determine I would keep it, I bought an additional 7rd. and a 10rd. mag for it. The 10rd. really doesn't add that much size, but it does give you a little more grip to hold onto. BTW, I paid $175 for mine.

I don't have any experience with the 32 but i do have a Kel Tec P3AT and love it.Great little gun super easy to conceal. If i was buying new I'd say 380 but for the price i suggest giving the 32 a try.You can also ways sell it down the road and go bigger if you feel the need.

I own a KT P-32 and if feel it's a great pistol.

The prices you quoter are a little high. I bought my P-32 for $219 NIB and the P-3AT was priced at $224 NIB. I would shop around a little and see if you can find a better price but if you can't, the P-32 will serve you well.

[Mod hat off]

At that price you can't go wrong. I will agree that the first thing to do is test for failure to perform with self defense ammunition. Note every problem then send it to KelTec so that they can correct them and get the free lov'n they heap on them before they send them back. Such a deal!

Let's get back on the original poster's topic and not hyjack the thread into a discussion of the utility/appropriatness of BUGs. If you want to discuss the philosophy or tactics of BUGs open a thread in S&T.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.;)

I think I'll go for it..thanks......and BTW I'm not a Mall Ninja(I never go to the mall :neener: )

But I AM batman;)

I like them both! I own and carry a p-32, I shot my co-workers p3AT last week, and it felt good enough and controllable enough to carry for defensive purposes..
