About a year ago I had a fit of stupidity and sold my PT145 because I could not shoot it very accurately. What was even stupider was that I sold it to a friend who has taken every opportunity to "remind" me of what a good, reliable shooter it really was.

Last month, he got into a bind and I helped him out, so he ended up owing me some money. Well, this week, he came to me and said that he was still short on funds and asked if he could repay me by giving the PT145 back to me! :D

So, my little pocket rocket and I are now reunited. The best part of it is, my buddy shot the piss out of the gun while he had it and the trigger (which I never liked before and which was the cause of most of my dissatisfaction with the gun) is now as smooth as glass

I took the pistol to the range today and it shot wonderfully. I put 150 of my reloads through it along with 50 rounds of Remington UMC jhp's that were included with the gun when I got it back.

I had one light strike on one of the reloads, but I feel like the primer may not have been fully seated and it did fire on the second strike. Plus I checked all of my other spent rounds and the primer indent was nice and deep on all of them.

Last but not least, here's one of my targets from today, shot at 7 yards. Looks like I have finally learned to shoot a decent group with my PT145 after all. ;)

Katana8869, If you have had a chance to shoot other sub-compact 45s, how would you compare the pt145 shooting dynamics to the others?

Looking good with the targets. Got to be feeling fine about that set.

DOA style triggers take much dedication, time and practice to get proficient with. Totally different set of techniques, methods, and mindset to get proficient compared to traditional DA/SA pistols or revolvers.

Lot of things to bring together to hit the target jusssssst right, but it's fun when all the factors are working for us.:)

Thanks weregunner! I appreciate the links and I'm going to sit down with my coffee and read them right now. :)

Tejano, I own a Glock 30 and have owned a Glock 36. As far as felt recoil, follow-up shots, and overall handling, they are all pretty close.

I have shot and carried Glocks for a long time so naturally I'm going to say they have better triggers because that is what I am most familiar with. :)

What really attracted me to the gun was the manual safety. I like being able to just shove it in my belt or a coat pocket and not worry about risking an AD when I'm just going out on the property for something, making a quick trip to the mailbox or going out to get something out of the car.

The Glocks are more accurate than the PT145 when tested from a sandbag, but not by much. At self defense distances from say contact distance out to 7 yards, I don't see any issues with accuracy. At 15 yards the Glocks are better for me, but somebody that has properly learned the PT145's trigger probably wouldn't have any issues.

I'm not going to say that the PT145 is as durable as a Glock, but I will say that between my friend and I this gun has about 1200 rounds through it and is running just fine! ;)

For typical CCW needs, the PT145 seems to be a very competitive choice among the other guns in it's class. It's easier on the wallet too.

Hope that helps!

I'm looking to buy a PT145. I've been reading a lot of good reports and the price is right.

I get that occasionally with my reloads too, I use CCI primers. I might have a 'smith install a stronger striker spring.

I've had mine for about a year and carry it as well. It's a great hand gun. Easy to conceal and it's a 10+1.

Funny thing about all this. There are plenty of people who own XDs, Glocks,Taurus,H&K, and other similar brands with alike trigger systems. Mix and match them.:D

I'd bring those links over, but carpal tunnel syndrome would set in there would be so many.:what::)

I had one for a while, it worked great for the most part and was very accurate. The only problem I had was when I would pull the trigger slowly it would have light primer strikes and not fire without a second strike.
