hello i have a 460 and want to get a big big mold for it i have a lyman 325 gc mold that workes great but i want to go bigger i have been looking at lbt technolgy molds want to go somewhere about 500 gr does anybody have any experance with lbt molds or 500 gr bullets in a 460 any info would be great thanks for your time

I don't have experience with bullets that heavy. I'm getting started with cast bullets for mine, starting with a 325gr gc. I'd appreciate any info/load data that folks are using successfully. I'll share mine as soon as I get there.

I would say .45-70 molds could give you the mass you're looking for, but they're .458" vs .452" nominally for .460 S&W Magnum.
Despite the relatively large case, seating a 500+gr bullet might limit your powder charge.

500 grain bullets?
Seems like you should have bought a .500 S&W instead of a .460.
Not sure what the rifling twist will stabilize in a .460, but the sucker is all about high velocity, not heavy bullets.

What is the 325g NOT doing that a 500 grainer will? I dig heavy cast big bore loads. I load a 310gr in .44 mag that will completely penetrate ANY creature here in AZ, at any angle inside of 100 yds. I can only imagine at .460 SW velocities, that 325g'er is definately going to put a hurtin' on any creature in North America.
40.1 gr of lil gun or 41.3 gr of h110/w296 is my best load these are almost maxed out be careful send me a private message with your results please
i dis agree that is the beauty of the 460 you can shoot very fast or very heavy my gun shoots much better with heavy bullets the 500 is still good and i want one but the 460 is much more versitile
i want one just to have one and if i am hunting with no possibilty of over 50 yd shot the velocity is close to 2000 fps +100-100with 325 gr mold

Perhaps I haven't found the right powder and measurement yet, but I haven't been able to get either the 240gr or 300gr Hornady bullets to shoot anywhere near as tight as the 200gr ones. The 200gr FTX bullets have been laser accurate out of my 10.5" PC Hunter.
