I had been thinking about getting one of these for a long time, and I finally got to hold one today. The CZ points nice and feels good in my hand. However, I don't quite think the quality is up there with my Sig from what I could tell. Even with the quality issue I now want a CZ 75 for sure! The sights weren't great but it's hard to find a perfect gun in this price range. What are you CZ guys using for sights? I particularly like an adjustable rear sight. Pics of your sights would be great as well, as with any other CZ info you would like to add. A CZ75 SA might not be a bad option either. Thanks for the info everyone

atrain08,

Have you been to the Sig forum to see what diehard Sig-o-philes are saying about CZ pistols? You need to. They LOVE their CZ's.

I have had Sigs and still do, but, a CZ gives away nothing to a Sig. Nothing. No, CZ's don't have the finish quality of a Sig, but neither do they have the Sig price. A CZ can shoot with, if not outshoot a Sig. This is not my opinion, it's a fact.

I love my P-220, but my CZ-97 is my range companion. I have enjoyed my P-226 in 9mm and 40, but I pack a CZ-75 and/or SP-01 to the range. There's a reason for this, seems like you may be about to discover why.

Go to the "Ghost Holster", the CZ custom shop site. There are some great sights there. Also check out the LPA adjustable sights, just do an "LPA" search.

I use a CZ75B in IPSC production. Stock sights. Only thing that's not stock is the hammer and mainspring.

Not sure about what kind of quality you are referring to. Mine has never failed me. I consider that quality.

I won't comment on my CZ's reliability. I will say however that the Kadet slide is well worth the extra cost, especially if you happen to find one used.

I have no doubt I would love the CZ, and yes I am a member on the sigforum. The CZ has a very nice feel to it for sure. Money is tight right now so I don't know when I will be able to buy one but I certainly want it! Plus, as you mentioned the price is right. Oh and it seemed to have a much better trigger than my p229 with a much shorter reset travel, which is my only real complaint with the p229.

I was referring to the finishing quality. I have no doubt that they are not any less reliable than Sig's or anything for that matter. Why did you change your hammer?

I have a CZ 75B that left the factory in Jan '08. It has dovetailed front and rear sights with white dots - it also has a full length
serrated rib not found on many slides these days. It has been
100% reliable and stoopid accurate. Nice steel frame DA/SA
semi-auto in 9mm luger for a couple hundred less than a Sig.
Jeff COoper put his ok on a CZ 75 in a Guns & Ammo review more
than 30 years ago. Whatever yah do in arguing about SIg - they
don't have frame mounted thumb safety.

I have a couple of 75B and love them. They both have fixed white dot sights, but I am considering replacing at least one with an LPA sight. The kadet kits are definitely worth it and come with very nice target sights.

The one I was looking at today had green dot sights. I think they were glow paint or something, certainly not tritium. Now I'm curious what those were because you all have the white dot sights...

I have a Sig and like it. I practice with the Sig to maintain skill and familiarity.
I have a 75B and love it. I shoot and practice with the CZ because it's pure D' fun to shoot. I use the CZ Custom Shop Comp rear and FO front sights.

The only problems with the CZ are that it's like a potato chip and a '57 Chevy; one's not enough, and there's always something you can change or add to make it even more fun..

quick question..

why are CZs always compared to a SIG??
always..someone asks a question..someone always says get a SIG.
quality is always compared to a SIG.

not a Beretta, not a M&P, not an XD, not a Glock, not an FN, not a Smith. but always a SIG..

anyone???

Well in my case its because I own a Sig and not a glock, xd, fn,or a smith, and the Sig has been my benchmark for quality as its the best that I own. I have owned a few brands though and nothing has been as nice as the Sig. A friend of mine has an HK and the quality of it is definitely up there with the Sig, however.

eerw,

Good point. I don't know why. Maybe Sigs should be compared to CZ's? There's been QC problems at Sig USA that's common knowledge. Many diehard Siggies won't own a Sig unless it's West German.

I would go along with compairing the sig to a cz too. I have shot a leo buddies p220 and would never spend the money for one. If your look'n hard at cz 75B then also look at EAA Witness line. I have a witness match and did also look at the cz line of pistols and when with the match ,a SA version in 40S&W. Witness offers more caliber choises on one pistol then any other pistol for 200 bucks a conversion you can change to 9mm,38super/9x23, 40 ,45 acp or 10mm all with the same lower and 15 seconds.I forgot the 22 cal kit too. I bought a 9mm conversion kit and slid it on and shot it the first time at a match that night with no issues at all. Only payed 499 out the door for the witness elit match .

The finish inside the frame and what not can be more rough than a Sig's but it doesn't affect the performance of the gun at all. THey are very reliable and accurate.

The EAA witness looks like a really good deal. Id like to have a 9mm as well since .40 ammo has gotten ridiculously expensive here lately. I was going to buy a mkIII .22 to shoot cheap but now a EAA witness match or cz75b with the .22 conversion sounds like the way to go.

I really like this witness. I got to shooting a couple indoor matches and enjoyed it more than i thought i would with ammo being somewhat short i though about getting the 9mm top side too. I ended up order'n ammo for the 40 and was told that it could be 5 to 7 weeks so i then ordered the 9mm upper after getting a good deal on some 9mm ammo. Have now orderd some more 9mm ammo too but back to shooting the 40 again for now. Might have to get the 22 top side too but do have a couple ruger pistols to play with now.

The comparison of Sigs to CZ75s probably stems from the fact that on each pistol, the slide rides on the inside of the frame, rather than on the outside. This is a rather significant similarity, arguably, and goes a good ways towards accounting for the shared accuracy of those pistols.

What I have been lead to believe by some in the reloading section is that the CZ-75 has a slightly short throat in 9mm. Someone else should confirm or deny that.

A quote from a mag. that I have from 1991 states that "the CZ 75 combines the interior frame rails of the French Model 35 and SIG P-210, with the FN Browning action and large magazine capacity, as well as the double action of the P-38 and double action/cocked & locked carry option of earlier Czech autos such as the CZ 50." Hmmm. I just like them . I have only compaired my CZ's to my BHP.

I'm pretty sure I want a single action this time so the EAA witness match seems like the way to go. The only real thing that concerns me is that I hear their customer service is awful.

Can't help much there except when i was told they were out of any 9mm conversions i got a call back that they did put one together and was in the mail ,on the same day. I have ordered mags from at a good price and quick service. I will say there gunsmith has all the personality of a block wall, at least on the phone. All the companies are over loaded rght now and i am sure that all have problems and some got screwed in the process. You here of it a s&w ,taurus, cz, sig most of the 1911 copy companies and witness like most so i am one that like what i have and at the price?? Oh my buddies sig p220 has been in the sherrifs dept gunsmith 3 times for stove pipeing rounds and sent back to the factory1 time and still will pipe rounds the deptment shoots only gold dots. Like i said before it did not empress me at all, just a over priced gun. So they all make some junk i guess.
