Hello all, I've been registered for some time but not very active, I have a question for you and am seeking opinions.

I have the opportunity to purchase a P220 thats had maybe 500 rounds put through it and I am also looking to get an LCP as well as a Glock G30.

I am a large man with big hands and an even bigger appetite which in turn means my stomach is also rather large. I am wanting to CCW one of the three but I cannot decide which one to use.

I am a fan of the .45 and I've put enough rounds through a friends LCP to purchase one, I own a G30 and have shot a P220 a few times, but I don't know which one would be better to CCW and how best to CCW, fanny pack, manbag, shoulder rig,

Thunderwear is definately out of the mix!

I don't own an LCP but have heard many speak highly of it and it's ease to conceal. I do own both a Glock 30 and P220's. You didn't mention which P220. The full size is too large for me to comfortably carry. The carry version is a bit better, but the hammer pokes me a bit. The compact (7 rounds) is perfect.

The Sigs are my favorite non 1911's. But the Glock 30 is my go to carry gun. Weight, size, and capacity (11 rounds) make it ideal for me. If I could only own one gun it would be the 30.

I like most had to do a little experimenting with holsters and settled on a relativly inexpensive Don Hume IWB.

Are you comfortable shooting the LCP?
If so it is the best for CCW.
IMO, I'm not comfortable with the LCP. I carry either a Keltec PF9 or Springfield XD9 Compact in a Crossbreed mini-tuck/supertuck.
I would suggest the smallest that meets your requirements (caliber/capacity/style of carry), if your CCW is too large and not comfortable you will not carry.

Most guys I know that are big around the waist either prefer pocket carry with something like the LCP, Kel-Tec P32 or P3AT or the compact lightweight 5 shot .38 or .357 revolver. Or belt carry, but not IWB. Something along the lines of a nice comfy leather pancake holster that Mr. Rogers describes. Only potential problem with belt carry is if your waist is notably wider than your shoulder width. If this is the case, your shirt will tend to constantly drape over the butt of the gun on your hip. But if you shoulders are about as broad as your waist from side-to-side, or even a little wider, the shirt (as long as it is baggy and a little starchy) will tend to hang a bit away from the gun.

As for belt guns, the Sig and the G30 would likely be fine for that role. But both are fat double stackers (CORRECTION: the 220 is a single stack gun, thanks to Manson for pointing out my goof), and lots of folks have difficulty concealing the big chunky butts on those guns. So you might also look for single stack autos (1911 platform or Kahrs - EDIT: the 220 is a nice slim gun too, my mistake) or thinner double stackers (Browning HiPower or Ruger SR series). Or something like a S&W K Frame .38 or .357 with a round butt frame that you can put small wood or rubber stocks on (I've got big hands, and the combo of small wood panels and a Tyler-T Grip is quite shootable and easy to conceal for me).

And for me at least the P220 compact and the G30 carry well. Best advice I think is try it before you buy it. Too many body types for a single correct answer.

Yep, they're all single-stacks. And the Carry version toted in Galco "King Tuk" iwb holster is my favorite concealed carry set-up.
