I am in the market for a 1911, and have found 2 that have caught my eye at the local gunstore. I have tried to do as much research as I could on my own, using the search function here and on 2 1911 forums. So here is the question I can get a NIB Springfield "Loaded" px9151 stainless for $750 or a NIB Dan Wesson Pointman 7 stainless for $870. They both are very nice, the DW seems to be tighter and the fitting of the grip saftey to frame is better. It is just that either one is a pretty good chunk of change, and I would rather avoid buyers remorse if at all possible.:banghead: What would you do?

Sorry, in the original post I forgot to ask if the pricing sounded reasonable. I thought both prices were good, but I will take all the input I can get.

I have only held DW's once, but I would get the NIB Dan Wesson Pointman 7 stainless for $870. The one's I saw were going for $950. Seems to me to be more well made than the loaded. I have a loaded model, and like it alot, but If you have the option to get the apparently nicer weapon, I would do that.

I had a Springfield loaded and it was good but not anything special. I would have to try the Dan Wesson.
Oh, there is no dought at some point in time you will say to yourself "why did I buy that" We all do it. You have not bought enough guns if you have not.

Quite contrary, but I've experienced nothing but GOOD LUCK with every
Springfield that I've ever owned; as all of 'em are still in inventory as
we speak. Let's see, there is:

a) a parkerized Springfield Armory WW-II G.I. model that was given too
me my a very dear friend, and fellow THR member.

b) a stainless steel version of the same gun, that a now deceased member
of my employers family sold me.

c) a Springfield 5" parkerized MIL-SPEC model thats still UNFIRED and NIB.

and)

of course, my Springfield XD .45 ACP that I got such a fantastic deal on
and purchased NIB with all the GEAR.

As to the Dan Wesson Pointman, we have had one in the store recently
and it sold very quickly. Good look'in 1911, but I have NO personal hands
on experience with one. However, I do think the pricing for both is very
reasonable.

I don't know about the CZ/DW guns, but when they were just DW there was no comparison bewteen them and a SA. The DW was superior in every aspect.

Tough to beat the fit & finish of the DW's. Take this w/ a grain of salt, but I am a new DW owner...I bought a CBOB...and it has had its growing pains. Now tho, she's fine & still has the great looks that attracted me to her to begin with

I do only live 60 miles from their Norwich NY location, if nothing else it would make any issues I had with the DW easier to get resolved.

Really guy's, I think any quality firearms manufactuer makes good,
workable guns this day and time. True, some have minor issues or
flaws; but absolutely nothing that can't be overcome. Sometimes, this
does require a little patience from us consumer's; but all of the major
players that I've dealt with thru my employment have handled the
existing problem without any quarms. Yes, even Tauri International
has done and about face~!:uhoh:  ;)

Upstate, only you can pick what is best for your needs.I have had stellar results with Springfield Armory 1911s.Never owned a Dan Wesson or a Taurus.I did get to shoot an S&W at the club range a while ago and found it accurate and reliable.tom.

I was not knocking Springfield Ala Dan. They make good stuff. When I talked about "why did I buy that" it was just in general. I have bought a gun and fallen out of love with it before I shot it and sold it. (wasn't a Springfield):)
