I know I know, Apples to Oranges and all that jive :neener:. I, Mr. Newbie would like to see a discussion between these two rifles. I already own the XT-22 (Heavy Barrel/Varmint version) And several mags for it, both the 7 and 10 rounders.

I want another, me and my youngest brother (He's 12 and a good shooter with alot of interest!) :D shoot steel often when College and Work permits. It'd be nice if we could have a second rifle to plink with.

I'm really hoping you guys can think of some factors I haven't considered through discussion.

Also, Please no "Buy a Ruger 10/22" I own one and really don't like it. I'd rather have a rifle that gives me great accuracy without modding it. As cool as it is.

Thanks guys!!!

I enjoy my 795. It's accurate and reliable with the ammo it likes.
And I'm sure little bro would like to unload some magazines with speed here and there vs shoot chamber shoot chamber etc.

It makes for a good all around rifle for me. Accurate enough for basic target practice and plinking and does a fine job on small game.

I am considering an aftermarket stock from Boyd's considering how well I like the rifle.

I got my 795 a couple of years ago for under $100 with rebate. It's the one gun I don't go to the range without.

I might shoot a few mags of my carry piece or HD pistol. I might touch off some of the Holy Black. I'm most certainly heat up the barrel of my AR.

However, I'll shoot at least 3/4 of a brick out of my 795, Mk iii, and Taurus 84. There aren't a lot of whiz bang doohickies for the 795, but she's accurate and reliable right out of the box. Just a really nice shooter for the price point.

I LOVE my 795, I've shot the xt-22 before and to be honest, I didn't see any notable difference in accuracy or reliability. If a SHTF instance ever came up, it would absolutely positively be one of the ones I would grab to head to the hills with....enough said.

Might also mention one really handy thing I like about it, is I have the butt stock filled with all sorts of survival goodies! Extra ammo, a spare clip, mini flashlight, waterproof matches, mylar blanket, mini pocket knife, small fishing kit, and much more!!

Does it add to the weight? Ya a little, but not enough for me to care really....I event modded the butt end with a dremel to fit on one of those small fit-flush little ring handles you can buy at any hardware store for like a buck so you can pull the insert out easy and get to the goodies inside easy should the need arise....love that rifle!
