After several threads I'm thinking of getting a marlin xt-22 .22lr fo it's out of the box accuracy, crisp trigger, and the fact that bolt actions tend to not jam as easily. Please do not turn this blog into a ruger 10/22 discussion I don't want to spend that much money on a .22 just to fix a trigger.

there's nothing wrong with any of them. I have em all and its really just a matter of preferance and which one feels best to YOU. They all work great for small game and plinking, which is what I use them for, but the bolt action seems to be best for long range, or grouping at distance/target shooting.

Handle them all and select the one rifle you are comfortable with, or feels the best in your hands. You're the one that's going to shoot it, not us. :)
PS: I do like the looks of the Ruger 10-22.

that xt boltie is gonna out-shoot a stock 10/22 for sure.
the 60 is almost as accurate but maybe little more fun.
one of the most accurate rifles I have ever owned was a cheap 25mn boltie in 22winmag

Not to derail the thread but you can't get a 2-3lb trigger on ANY rifle any cheaper than the $40 it costs to do so on a 10/22. I think you should buy whatever rifle you want but don't give up on the 10/22 because you think you need a $200-$300 trigger just to get by. With Marlin's questionable quality and the excellent results I've had from my Savage rimfires, I would not even consider a new Marlin boltgun.

No experience with the XT-22, but both the Marlin 60 and 10/22 are going to be dissapointments if you have dreams of what a 22 rifle is supposed to be.

The 10/22 is good if you are looking for a project rifle. I have no clue what it is about the Marlin 60 that keeps sales so high. I'll take a good 22 bolt gun any day over a semi auto so thats why I say XT-22.

Looks like they're basically copying Savages accutrigger. So look at the savages if you like the XT-22.

Other high quality bolt guns:

CZ 452
Savage MK II
Ruger 77/22 (kind of overpriced)
Browning T-Bolt (kind of overpriced)

buy a wally world savage and add a rifle basix rimfire trigger for 84 dollars . You can buy there triggers that will go as low as 10oz pull weight. Wally world did have a very basic savage for 140 bucks not to long ago.

Jeff56 You have theeee best marlin 60ss in the world. They also have the worst factory trigger out there to. You should have gotten the bullseye trophy this month. .29" at 90 yards wooow.

I have one of the mkII fv-sr . Bought it to fit a supressor to and turns out the newbe sheriff won't sign off for me or anyone. asshat, His daddy would but not him . Anyhow, it is a shooter too almost as good as my ruger custom but not like your marlin.

Well I am confused. You listed the 10/22 in the title and then said you didn't want to talk about it. So why did you even bring it up? So just go buy a Marlin already.

Savage Mark II BTVXP .22LR bolt action. Heavy barrel, Accu-trigger, walnut thumbhole stock, came with a Bushnell 3-9X scope and rings, and premounted with 3 sling swivel studs. $228 at Dick's Sporting Goods.

Still a heck of a group with a marlin 60. So is your 50 yard group. I have gone twice over to the forestry range to try and found it full of the spray and have fun crowd during a week day morning. Get a darn job guys, arg. No room of controled fireing. S*cks since its a 50 minute ride to get there. Going try to set up a .22 rifle range behind my house and see if I can not piss of the nieghbors i guess. I ain't shot a rifle since last months match now. I got to check out ontarget.com that a great way to size your groups.

I personally would look at the Savage Mark II with an accu-trigger for a bolt action and a Marlin M60 for a semi-auto. I prefer tube fed 22's for general use over box magazine models. I don't have any experience with the Marlin XT.

Not sure what a 22 rifle is "supposed to be."

Marlin M60's are a proven preformer for economical 22 rifle both in overall accuracy and functionality. The only Marlin 22 rifle I own is a 22WMR.

Other high quality bolt guns: (Bolded comments added)

CZ 452.... Yes, they are good, but over $300 these days.
Savage MK II... Yes, I agree, except I prefer the >$300 versions.
Ruger 77/22 (kind of overpriced)... I agree
Browning T-Bolt (kind of overpriced) .. Also agree.

But I do tend to buy overpriced 22 rifles these days. So, value and price is a judgement call.
