...or I will destroy the only vial of antidote...

Seriously though, I have this gun: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/78594 I got it as a birthday gift back in April and I want to to turn it into a pseudo-scout rifle. In short, because cutting the barrel down isn't an option, all I really want to do is:

-Add a forward Picatinny rail.
-Add ghost ring iron sights.
-Still be able to use the included scope (this may not be possible, I'm okay with that as long as I can still use the scope with the iron sights removed, or use it on the forward rail, though I believe it lacks the long eye relief needed.)
-Budget: $250.

Tell me what parts I need, where I can get 'em and how to do it. A lot of people build scout rifles yet I haven't found a remotely definitive guide online.

Wow....that's a big bill.
Savage actually makes the Model 10 in a "scout" configuration, You'd probably be better served to sell your M10 and just buy one. If not, than purchase from Savage the forward mount and sights have a smith install them and there you go.
You'll need a new scope with long eye relief. You will also be stuck with the very "un-scout" like rifle features such as the long barrel, heavy weight, low capacity, slow reload and most importantly an anemic caliber for a "scout rifle".

Here some links for you:

I'm with MikePaiN, it will be cheaper to buy a new Savage Scout rifle than buy the parts to convert yours.

I'm going to convert a No.4 Enfield that a bubba worked on and convert it to a 20 inch scout rifle. All that needs done cut the barrel and remount the front sight. (another fake No.4 tanker)
