Help Me Decide Between Two N-frames

I have to say the 357 looks more snuggly than the 45. It yearns to be held The 45 just wants to be fired.

The VComp is the only gun I am currently wanting to add to my collection.. So I'd have to go with that one.

You know, the longer I think about this, the more I'm thinking about selling something to get both the 627 and the 625.

This thread really hasn't been as helpful as I had hoped :uhoh:

ICORE? 627 V Comp.

IPSC/USPSA? 625.

My preference? The S&W 627 8 Times.

Ditto. I own a 627 V Comp and really like it. Bought it used from a nice fellow and it already had trigger work from Clark's. I also have the equivalent in 629 so I'm a PC V Comp fan boy I suppose.
I'll probably have the same trigger work done on the .44 because, as good as it is out of the box, the worked one shoot like butta'.
No brainer to me. But obvious bias here.

I have a short stack of model 25's and 625's I have owned a bunch of them and wish I still had them all. I prefer 6 shots over 8, because I am a old dog, and I have mastered counting to 6. If a 15 shot revolver ever comes out, you will read about people firing all 15 at someone without a hit, or just 1or 2 hits same as hi cap auto's. you seldom read about a revolver being emptied in a one on one confrontation. Not to say that the revolver is a better weapon or more accarate , but most revolver shooters will take a better shot.

Actually, you did. Just more revolver lovefest bunk. In a fight, it is just as easy to miss six times with a revolver as it is with a semiauto. Furthermore, we know that people lose approximately 33% of their fine motor function under the effects of adrenaline. If the shooter sucked before the confrontation, he or she is going to be worse during it. The hit ratio is because of the shooter, not the platform.

Rather than sell something off, is it possible to buy one and put a few dollars down to hold the other gun until next month?

Well, I took my newly-acquired 625-3 3" out on a first date yesterday, we left the range after getting to know each for a couple of hours, we stopped at a local wedding chapel on the way home :D

On the other hand, it's safe mate is a 627-4 plus Performance Center 6" which is presently the most accurate handgun I own.

So, gonna have to vote for you getting both it possible, if not, 625.

Check the thread...there are a couple of references to .45, my guess mistakenly equating the reference to "625" with the caliber of current production of the 625.

Do you know of other calibers have any other M625s been chambered in?

...or are you referring to the Colt SAA; but it isn't a S&W N-frame

...or are you referring to something else entirely...like the .22lr caliber K-frame M45 produced for the USPS?

Just thought I let folks know that I went with the 625.

I did like the balance better and I've always wanted a 5" N-frame since I used to read Skeeter Skelton's stories about his 5" M27. If I shot ICORE or planned to shoot USPSA's new Minor Revolver division, I might have gone with the 627

I did the paperwork today and I'll pick it up in 10 days. The owner gave away the moonclips, so I'll order some in the meantime and decide which grips I want to put on it.

Thanks for all the help

The gun pictured in the first set shows ".357 Magnum" on the barrel. I have just now noticed the second picture, which does show a .45 barrel stamping. Never mind.
