These are my requirements:

.40 cal

no Pro series

SA/DA

It would be for concealed carry.

Any suggestions or feedback?

And what is the force needed for DA on Sigs?

Don't rule out the P229. I used to have a P239, but my P228 is a much better fit to my hand. Nothing wrong with the P239, I just couldn't get comfortable with it. I have no trouble concealing the P228, and the P229 is basically the same size. The SIGarms website lists the P229 as .02 inches longer and 2.1 ounces heavier than the P228.

It is only slightly bigger than the P239, and holds five more rounds. Here are the stats comparing the P229 to the P239

overall length: 7.1" vs. 6.6"
height: 5.4" vs. 5.1"
width: 1.5" vs. 1.2"
weight: 31.1 oz. vs. 27.5 oz.

You should handle, and shoot if possible, each model before deciding.

I wish I could handle and shoot each one but we don't have good gun shops around here. I do trust the opinions of the members here and the excellent reputation of Sig enough to take the plunge.

Why should I consider those models?

Depending on your size, both the 229 and 239 are both excellent recommendations.

The standard DA pull is 10 to 10.5 lbs on classic Sigs. (But it's a much smoother 10 lbs than most DA autos, and that makes a big difference.)

Well, I had a 239/.40 but have a 229/.40. It's a tough call. I personally decided to keep the 229 and sold the 239 only to fund another purchase. For me the slightly larger size of the 229 makes just a bit easier for me to shoot .40 caliber. However, if I'd never had a chance to shoot a 229 I'm sure I wouldn't have felt like the 239 wasn't usable. I also decided to hang on to my 239/9mm. The size and caliber are a perfect combination (for me).

How about this P239:

Like new, no dings dents or scratches. Less than 50 rounds through it.

Blackened stainless, Hogue grips, original grips, standard sights, two mags, all paperwork.

For $500 shipped to my FFL.

Should I go for it? I would like to get back to him tonight.

Sounds like a good deal. However CDNN has LNIB .40 Sig 229 police trades can be had for a little less. Depends on your wants/needs.

50 rounds is about as close to new as you can get, most say it takes at least 200 to 500 rounds before they consider it broken in. I wouldnt think twice about paying that price for it.

Best of luck to you...

I paid exactly that two years ago for my P239 shipped. It had a slightly higher round count, but also came with four factory magazines. Sounds like a fair price. If you decide it is not for you, you can always resell it. I recouped all but $25 when I sold mine.

I'd definitely go with the 229. Best pistol SIG makes IMHO and not difficult at all to CCW.

Okay, I'm starting to really think about the 229. I like it's higher capacity and larger frame.

I just e-mailed CDNN Investments and will call them in the morning. I'm going to see if they'll ship to IL. I know some places do not ship to IL, such as Midway. :(

How about the handpicked?

Nite sites are only $10? How do they do that?
