so i live in a rural town in alabama and will be spending the night in nashville on a vacation w/ my wife. I will have cash on me and will be carrying (i already checked packing.org and am ok legally).

I have 2 handguns... a Ruger P95 w/ 15 round clips and a s&w 637 2" 38... i can smart carry either gun, or belt holster either gun. I can even pocket the 38. The P95 is a lot heavier but i am a WHOLE LOT more comfortable shooting it, however i will be walking around malls and such all day. What would you do?

P95loser,

I would carry the one you shoot best and have the most confidence in. P95 too big, lol, I carry a P90. Hardly know it's there anymore.

I use a DA3 from Ted Blocker. It is an IWB and comes with 2 sets of clips, one tuckable one not. This holster spreads the weight out over a wide area and is very comfortable.

The quality and workmanship is only surpassed by the quality of the people there.

It's all down to cover garment - and whether the P95 or any larger piece - that is all you need to consider. I use a Smith & Alexander vest - it covers my SIG with no prob and equally if I had the P95 on board... no prob'.

I will not downsize unless absolutely my last and only option.

Ruger, hands down. You want to carry what you shoot best, unless concealing is a top priority. Hell, I carry my full size CZ all the time.

Carry what you're most comfortable with, regardless of bulk/weight (within reason). I carry an EAA Witness Compact 10mm; At 7.5" long, 5.25" high and 1.6" thick and weighing 43 ounces empty, it's only compact when compared to the full size Witness. But you get used to it. I can conceal this wearing a cheap pocket tee and wrangler jeans. It would be easier to carry a J-frame or some .380 or .32, but I much prefer the Handling and power of a good-size pistol in a potent chambering. If the SHTF, you'll be glad to have the more capable weapon. I only carry one mag, but if 11 180 gr. Gold sabres at 1342 FPS can't get the job done, I should have been running.

FWIW, I carry IWB just right of 12 O-clock in the summer, I use a Binchi Minimalist on my hip at 4 O'clock in the winter.

What would you do?
I'd look back to previous carry experiences.
It's fairly easy to see what's worked on the past.

Summer weather in the south...A large auto or compact revolver?
It would take me 2 seconds to make my decission. See Username-
It's hard to enjoy a vacation if one's contnuously worrying about printing.

A quality belt and holster will
make it easy to conceal just
about any pistol.Proper clothing
will help also.I wear a 3" 65-3
or a 3" 625-7 in a pancake holster
and a loose fitting button up
shirt.This hides very well and
is easy to wear all day.

Drop the 38 in your pocket, and just have a fun trip. (Also, your wife will like it a whole lot more if she isn't aware of either one you do go with.
