I saw multiple threads indicating Golden West Brass as a good source for bullets. I visited their website and was attracted to their prices & selection.
After two days of several attempts to reach them via telephone, there was finally someone there to answer the phone late in the afternoon west coast time.
At first, the guy tells me that the bullets I'm interested in aren't in stock. Then he tells me he "guesses" he can fill the order. Surprise, surprise, the prices are higher than what their website says (both bullet price and shipping fees). In their defense, they do plainly state that prices are subject to change without notice - I don't make it an issue.
I go ahead and place an order. At this point its tough to beat 12 cents/round for 168 gr .308 fmj. Plus I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt since the website gave all the info I needed and all the phone call was needed for was to place the order.
Very informal ordering process - I can tell he's handwriting all my info down, including credit card number and expiration date. He's on a cell phone, I can tell a walk-in customer is in the background, he's repeating all the numbers back to me on the phone, etc, etc. Says my order will ship within 2 business days. The funny feeling I was having was not enough justification to say "sorry, I changed my mind..."/
Will I get my bullets? Will they be shipped in a timely manner? Will I receive good quality? Will they be there to answer the phone if I need to followup?
The reason I feel nervous is that all the threads I read are from satisfied customers, but I struggled in making contact and something just felt "fishy". I saw one thread where someone waited a couple weeks to get their stuff - while getting no response in the meantime doing follow-ups. Their order was filled after all.
