Help me out with Pietta, Uberti and their re-branders, please

Cimarron sells Pietta as well. I have a Pietta "Frontier" in 45C. My first ever Pietta version of a Mod P. There'll be a post of it . . . (yikes!!)

Mike

I picked up a Nickel Pietta 45 Colt recently. It was too pretty to pass up on. 1st nickel gun, I've ever owned, and 1st Pietta SAA. Not sure on the model at this moment.

I didn't realized that you're only a year older than me.

Cabella's is Uberti
This may need some clarification/qualification. the Cabela's BRANDED guns (such as their version of the Uberti/Stoeger Cattleman "Hombre") may all be Uberti (I'm not familiar enough with all of them to confirm) but they most definitely SELL a lot of Pietta cap and balls.

I started with a Colt Series 70 Govt in 1988. Didn't start enjoying single actions till about 8 years ago.

Briefly owned a 45 Colt Ruger Vaquero Bisley in my 20s. Traded it off on something else long forgotten.

Edited to add - getting back on topic. It would be nice to know (have a list) what importers import what guns - Uberti or Pietta?

EMF is Pietta.
Traditions is Pietta
Taylor's is Uberti
Stoeger is Uberti
Cimarron is Uberti & Pietta
Cabella's is Uberti
EAA is Weihrauch - Germany
Taurus - Brazil
I handled a Pietta in the new gun department at our area Cabela's but 2-3 years ago.

The spring that flips the key out of my fob broke . They said what do you expect a gun spring. You all have never been around a truck shop much. We replace broken springs only when they break. Some flexy metal things sometimes break.

Was it marked Cabela's on the barrel? For a while there they have their own Uberti Cattleman - brass grip frame & matte finish available through their catalog.

I might just eliminate them from this list altogether.

I recall it as strictly Pietta. It was a flat finish that looked cheap to me. I passed. The one I have now seems levels above that one.

I have an 1873 that is stamped Cabela's (in script) SIDNEY, NE. on the top of the barrel. S.A. CAL.45 on the left side of the barrel. Date code in box is BH indicating 1996 manufacture. I purchased it at the Sidney store for under $200 about that time. Proof PSF for smokeless powder. SN 135539. There are two other marks I can't identify on the left side of the frame and CAT. 1513. Does not have the marks that would indicate Uberti or Pietta. Has four-click action, floating firing pin and that safety thing under the pin. Any idea who would have made it? Was Uberti the only maker who used that type of "safety?"
