Help me pick a new pistol

9mm carry gun... ok, this is not what you were asking for, but
I say the heck with what the friends carry. I feel strongly about
this as a superb defensive carry gun:

Glock 19

That would be my choice no matter what the price.
Superb reliability, accuracy, capacity, perfect size,
amazing aftermarket support and parts availability
everywhere. Wonderful simplicity, same trigger
pull for every shot, moderate price. Pop in a G17 mag
for 18 rounds on tap when around the house, pop in
a G19 mag for 16 rounds on tap for carry with the
G17 mag as a spare.

I've got a number of wonderful 1911s and Hi-powers
and I love em all, but for carry duty, in 9mm, I would
pick the G19... I think it's the one Glock that pretty much
everyone should have.

metalman if you must carry with the hammer cocked please get a SA with a safety. If you do feel you would be okay carrying a DA/SA with a cocked hammer I sincerely hope you are not in Georgia as I would not want my family to be exposed to danger from someone like you.

The CZ 75 is a SA/DA, with a safety.

My vote is for this: get that XD to the smith for a trigger job ASAP, spend the $100 on making it a better shooter than all those listed save the 1911 and don't add another this one is inherintly more accurate than that one pistol to your collection.

I'm thinking you're right handed and jerking the trigger, due to weight which is causing the low left shots. You will indeed have similar problems with any DA trigger. I spent $55 to shave 10 lbs. off my M&P's pull weight and did the job myself. It is a very different beast these days and my smith confirmed with a scale 4 lbs, no creep, zero overtravel and positive reset.

The $600 I could have spent on buying another pistol became the $550 I spent on a ring for the wife. That rationale has paid more dividends than I care to describe here as there may be children reading this.
