Help me to "tone it down".

The 8 hours somebody's mandatory thing? Seems kind of long to me.
"...only this was shown..." And no price. Looks like they've already answered your question though. Mind you, I'd be asking if it's a policy thing or a space on the board thing.

You have to remember that we are talking about a hospital here, staffed with healthcare staff who are not known to be favorable towards firearms in general. They follow guidelines that have been passed down by a largely Democrat administration over the past 8 years, and even regular doctors offices are asking patients if they have guns, and discourage people from doing so.
Actually, they have little to say about how hospitals run themselves other than CMS guidelines. They don't enter into the day to day operations. Yes, CMS has gotten tougher in the last few years, and it costs the hospitals a lot of money pleasing bureaucrat inspectors every three years, but that's different, and those CMS guidelines have been around a lot longer than 8 years.

Don has gotten some good advise, and being the smart fellow that he is, I bet he comes to grips with HR and gets it done. :)

Yes, indeed, I have gotten some good advice, and I will be meeting with the HR guy on Monday and showing him the revised advertisement. Will let you know how it goes.

Don

Good luck Don, I hope they don't give you too much guff. I agree you should ask HR his you can "tone it down" this way they feel they are important.

I also agree you should not give in BUT getting your flyer posted and running the class is the greater good and a win like said above. I'm guessing anything with the words gun, ammo, NRA and the like got some complaints from the uninformed. I'm also guessing this is a private hospital so they can allow or reject any messages or even remove the board if they feel fit.

In the end, "HR" is just people. It may seem like some monolithic tower of impenetrable authority, but really, it's just a collection of individuals with their own notions and understandings (or lack thereof). Talking to them/him/her may not break down a wall of corporate BS, but an HR person sitting down across the desk from a polite, intelligent, thoughtful person who teaches others the technicalities of an interesting hobby will make an impact and put a crack in whatever wall that person has in their mind when they see "NRA, GUN, SHOOTING, etc." Antis are largely people who don't know and "gun nuts" or at least don't know the right ones, and haven't had the pleasure of a positive discussion about shooting, or a positive first-hand experience with it. Be that positive experience.

Sam is right, and the main reason I have built relationships in HR over the years, including making new ones as people change. HR is people, like any other dept. They have their rules, but they are just people. :)

What about common sense? I am also a certified metallic reloading instructor and I would never think of putting up a flyer in a hospital. How about something more appropriate like a gun store?

Well, the count, to each their own. Personally, I am not willing to concede that promoting this legal activity and interesting hobby is "inappropriate" in one setting and not in another. Once we start ceding ground to be politically correct, it's all downhill from there. I fought the good fight and won. Enough said.
