I just picked up my Marlin .45-70 1895GS today after winning it through Gunbroker.com
It looks and feels great.... the only problem is the trigger is extremely loose.
If I tilt the gun muzzle down the trigger moves forward, butt down the trigger
moves back. I also wiggles side to side. It is realy loose.

Every other part seems solid and is what I would expect from a NIB rifle. This
can't be normal can it? Is anyone else's Marlin like this? Anything I can check
for a simple fix?

I've been looking so forward to finally getting this rifle and am now a bit disappointed.

Let me know how it should be.

Yes Marlin triggers wiggle, but they work.

Try it and if it bothers you you can replace it with an after market from Cabelas or Brownells.

The trigger of my 1895G is like that too. I think
that's the way it is supposed to be. I've had mine a few years, only about 50 rounds through it, but I never gave the trigger a second thought. My Marln is very accurate and I've taken two deer with it. Don't worry about it, shoot it and have fun.

I just took my 1895G out of the gunsafe to check it.

It is new. . . never fired.
The trigger does exactly the same thing.

Wild West Guns has a real nice trigger, I understand. You might want to give them a call.

Thanks to all.

I feel better about it now, just never ran into that issue before since this is
my first Marlin.

Bought a Wild West Trigger kit cause I didn't like the Marlin "trigger flop". Not only did it fix the flop, now the trigger on my Marlin is the best firearm trigger in my safe.

yup mine too

My 1895 LTD III is tight, but my 1895gs.....sloppy. I installed the Trigger Happy kit from Wild West Guns and LOVE IT!!! Factory triggers (& recoil pads) are best replaced
