I am looking for a new rifle to add to my collection. I have an M1 Garand, M1 Carbine(going to CMP next week), a Colt AR, Mini 30, Ruger 10/22's, Marlin 30-30. I looked at the Sig 556, was not really that impressed, reviews were not that stellar. I had a WASR-10 a few years back and it was o.k. I have an opportunity to buy one of the new gsg-5's, but it seems pricey for a .22, doesnt really do much for me. I am leaning towards another AK, because I have a couple thousand rounds of 7.62. I just don't want my search to be over there. It's so....predictable. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

how about a 7.62 bolt? that would round out the collection & give you an excuse for a new scope.;)

I know that this is waay out of left field, but you might try going retro and get a Marlin Lever in either 45-70 or .450 Marlin. Their accuracy will blow your mind and chunking big hunks of lead into amazingly small spaces will satisfy your soul.
Just a thought.

Well, I can't get ahold of a Masada yet, but it looks and sounds interesting.

Iwas only looking at abou 1K, plus or minus a c-note. That XCR is bad ass, but out of my ranfe for now.

I've been looking at a Winchester Model 70 Classic Super Grade in 7MM Rem Mag. (not pre-64) . Very nice. I just wish it was in .270 win. The guy wants $900 buck. Still thinking.

I found the reviews on the Sig 556 to be very favorable. So I bought one.
Its my favorite now.

Since you lean towards military firearms, have you considered an M1A?

The M14 type rifle would be the obvious choice.

I almost bought the M1A. I probably should have. One of the reasons I went with the Sig was it was a few hundred cheaper and I already had plenty of mags and ammo for it.

The M1A still remains an itch that will soon have to be scratched. :)

I say get an SKS or Saiga 7.62 or something of that sort, if you don't want to go down the AK path.

Plus then you'd have tons of money left over if you were looking to drop a grand on a rifle.
