I need some help finding loading data a 35 Whelen
I have a full box of them
Remington 35 Cal. 150 Gr. .358 Dia.
core-lokt PDT. soft point
B22864

also looking for some plinking loads with hard cast pistol bullets
140 gr. lswc

Are you attempting to load handgun bullets in a rifle cartidge??

Your best bet would be to get a Hornady, Speer, Sierra, or Lyman loading manual - it'll come in handy over time.

For the light plinkers you might try IMR's Trail Boss magic formula. (http://www.imrpowder.com/PDF/Trail-Boss-data.pdf)

All you have to do is figure out how much free volume you have under the bullet and then use 70% of that as your starting load. Max load will be 100% of free volume. Don't compress it.

That would give you a very soft-shooting plinker load that would still take down a deer.

Yes. Reading a good reloading manual is better than asking around on the 'net.

However, I do see that the major players don't seem to list a 150 in .35 Whelen. (That might be what we call a "clue." )

I would suggest a membership at LoadData.com. For $30 a year you gain access to all the data ever published in Handloader and Rifle Magazines as well as most major loading manuals. For me, it is indispensible.

If you think finding published data takes time, wait until you have data and then start searching for the "sweet spot" where your rifle becomes a tack-driver.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for asking our advice.

The manufacturer of your chosen bullet is the first place I would look for loading data, but since RandyP already did that without success I would try to find a similar bullet and check with that bullet's maker. Did Remington make a successor bullet that replaced the ones you have? After that, I would try to get a copy of the "One Book / One Caliber" for the Whelen.
