i am also looking at the CS9SS. 3" BBL at 20.8OZ.
i forgot about the mag disconnect. i hate that thing, too. maybe i can find someone to disable it. i know it will need trigger work out of the box.

do yourself a huge favor and try a P7M8, there is no better single stack with no thumb slide release lever 'anything', true saftey that does not require any finger movement and a loaded chamber indicator easily viewable when sighting down the sights (long before any of this stuff was 'popular')

Surprise Her!

The sleeper of sleepers. The Star
Ultrastar 9mm single stack. It is
surprisingly accurate, no frills, shoots
POA, and is a joy to shoot anytime.

Sometimes you can catch one NIB at
an auction site, but probably have better
luck with finding a used one.

If you are on a budget get the S&W 3914, if you can afford a little more go for the Sig P239. I have both and they are both excellent weapons.

Where's Mastrogiacomo?

You know, I was gonna send you a Beretta Type M until you started messin with me :D

please shoot a sig before you buy one shesh

anyone care to clue me into the sig hype?
they have 5 in the used case at my range and nobody wants them.
the triggers are painful on the reset for me.
what gives?

i want to know why the p225 is favored so much over the 239. they are almost the same size and weight, no grip difference, same cal.
is it because they are "rare"?
i ahve spoke to a few people who have turned me away from the S&W. the mag disconnect is a big reason. i think the p239 is the way i am leaning.
i am sure the star is a good pistol, but, at this point in my life i am more inclined to buy higher quality goods.
the P7 would be in the safe already if the lower was alloy, for sure.

COHIBA

I could not locate the stats on the Sig P225, but I think it may be at least several ounces heavier than the p239..I really dont know about the P225. Since several seem to like it, it is probably a good choice, but even Sig touts the p239 for ccw...I really like mine, hope you will too if you go with it... good luck...p.s. I am not ordering any shirts/vest for now,but will check with you a little down the road when I am ready, before I order anything...

I want to know why the p225 is favored so much over the 239 . . . no grip difference.
There is huge difference in the grips and ergonomics ("feel") between the P225 and the P239. The grips on the P239 leave a lot to be desired (and usually require after-market grips to be acceptable). The P225 balance and points far better than the P239--the P239 has a distinct top-heavy feel and just lacks the naturalness of the P225.

I wouldn't say the P225 is "rare." You can generally find one if you want one. They are certainly not as common as the P239, and Sigarms doesn't push them near as hard as they do the P239 (probably has more to do with the profit margin than suitability since the P239 is made in the US and the P225 is made in Germany).

Safety First - The P225 is 0.9 ounces heavier than than the P239 (26.1 ounces versus 25.2).

I have both a P225 and a P239 and the 225 is definitely a bigger gun. Not a huge differance but definitely a differance.

The 225 is more comfortable and natural feeling.

The 239 is more concealable.

Both work great for CCW, both are accurate with a nod towards the 239. My 239 trigger is better than my 225 trigger. Either will serve you just fine.

225s are getting harder to come by and the magazines seem to be going up in price a bit.

Other than that they are great guns.

I really would like to try a Smith 3913 as they look to be spectacular firearms. Like I said I have a thing about mag disconnects though.

Based on everything that has been put forth the two SIGs seem to meet all of your criteria in the most economical way.

i have found someone w/ a 239 40 cal that is willing to sell for $450 shipped LNIB w/ 3 mags. i might go w/ it even though i dont care for the .40 in such a light gun.

And for a Wiffy? .40 can turn off new shooters or female shooters... lots of .40 loads are just too high pressure unless the shooter is experienced.

I suggest looking for one (a 239) in 9MM.

COHIBA,
George Hill mentioned recoil on the .40 being a turn-off,seems as though I have heard others also mention recoil being a bit much on the .40. You might want to do a little more shopping and see if the 9mm will show up at a decent price.. I bought mine from a local dealer end of 2002 and paid 529.00 plus tax, and that was factory fresh new.. But I admit I have not priced them since I bought mine...good luck..

Great price.

My wife doesn't like the recoil of my .40 SIG 239 and she is not exactly recoil sensitive. I think she just dosn't like small grip guns.

For myself, I am amazed at how soft of a shooter this little .40 caliber is. To me it soaks up the recoil extremely well. I love it. Most other people think it is a pretty soft shooter as well.

Anyway $490 after shipping and transfer is still a great price. I am just estimating fees.

Per my previous post on this subject, the Sig P225 and 239 are pricey, figure $550.00 on the low side for the 239, and as high as $649.00 for the P225 (supply & demand in action, since these arevery rare in the Phila PA ara).

If you're working against a budget, I'd take a look at the CZ 75 PCR; I've seen them NIB for @$450.00 asking price, which you could probably negotiate down a bit.

got a 40 cal P239 LNIB w/ 3 mags 99+% for $450 shipped.
now all i need is for someone to by my USP.

S&W 908...?

I have a S&W 910 Stainless(doublestack)with 4" Bbl.. The 908(blued or stainless)is a more compact single stack 8+1, 3.5"Bbl.

My 910 has been 100% since the first magazine, is aluminum framed(28 Oz.: the 908 is 25 Oz.) and I can't say enough good things about it, especially the trigger.
