Ultimate depends on clothing & temperature

For carry with light (minimum) clothing: Glock 26/27/33 or Kahr PM9/40
With slightly more effort / concealment: Glock 23/32/38 or Kahr PM45 or XD45 compact

I've tried a lot of guns and I've found nothing better than my M&P 9C. It is a phenomenal weapon.

nobody suggested the WALTHER PPS?

perfect carry auto (at least for me).

i love it, no problems, good stopping power, and carries easy.

so thats my vote.

I carry either a SA 1911 Subcompact .45, a S&W 1911SC "Commander", or a Kahr PM-9. Well, it's "usually" one of these three, with the SA "Sub" as my primary CCW. If you already have the EMP, and like what it does and how it does it, then problem solved, for the most part. But, as we all know, there is ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS room for "just one more". Yes, you know that famous retort: "but honey, I really NEED this one":D!!!!

I don't believe accuracy should factor into your consideration since almost all SD scenario occurs in distance of 5-7 yards of less. Even a Hi-Point out of the box can hit a great group at that distance. If one has trouble with this distance, I can guarantee it's the shooter's problem, not the gun's.

Beauty, and functionality, are in the eyes of the gun-holder. But for me, it would be tough to beat the Walther PPS for reliability, accuracy, and concealability. It also packs a sufficient punch, in either 9mm or .40S&W, to make it a true, grade-A, USDA-prime CCW, IMO.

The question is, under great stress, can you shoot fast enough and good enough?

There are some handguns that are much better choices than others when held to that standard.

I CARRY 2 s&w 340pd'S;1 IWB AND 1 ANKLE HOLSTER. tHEY HAVE BEEN mAG-NA-PORTED AND WEAR ct GRIPS. tHEY ARE LOADED WITH cOR-bON 110 GR jhp. vERY HOT LOADS BUT i FEEL PROTECTED.. i PRACTICE WITH 38+p ON A 5 TO ONE RATIO WITH THE HOT 357'S.

The S&W 3913 ....early production....without that rail.

Slim, light weight, accurate, reliable, perfectly sized single stack 9mm.

Whats not to like?

Are you serious? There is no perfect carry gun!
What you like, your neighbor may hate.... yada, yada, yada....

But...uhhh... since I'm here...

S&W 4013 with spur hammer installed, finger rest magazines, XS 24/7 Big Dot Night Sights. 40 S&W caliber.

Commander length 1911, like a Kimber Pro Tac... aluminum frame, steel slide, all the ambi stuff with XS 24/7 Big Dot Night Sites. 45 ACP caliber.

I carried one of those, wide bodied Globs for a while.... glad I got over that!

-:D

I think a Glock 30SF has everything you could hope for in a carry weapon. Pretty small and pretty light with 10+1 or optional 13+1 of 45 ACP is a good bit of firepower. Reliable and reasonably priced at $537. delivered from Bud's. I don't have one but it's on my wish list when my budget allows.

Kahr PM9 with the six round flush fit mag. The one below has a pierce extension.

The Ruger LCP is a really nice CCW. Problem is that it is .380 and ammo will be hard to find.

Very small and fits easily in your pocket.
