Help with 357 mag recipe

I have the Lyman 49th Edition & Hornady 8th Edition & neither one have a load for a MBC 158g RNFP.
I have the following powders:
2400
Bullseye
Unique
HP-38
Varget
H110
I plan to shoot it out of a Marlin 1894c.
Can I also use 158g LSWC & or 125G TCFP to shoot out of this rifle? The last two I use it for my S&W snubby.

It shouldn't make that much difference in the 357. Just find a load for a 158 grain bullet, shape or brand won't matter.

I use 6g of Unique with that bullet in a 357 case. Shoots very well out of my Marlin 1894.

Some levers will feed the swc and some will not, if they feed reliably there's no reason not to shoot them in your rifle

The oal of a revolver round is pretty much controlled by where the cannelure is positioned on the bullet. You MUST crimp it there, or risk the bullet being pushed into the case by magazine spring pressure.

I've been using 6.5g of unique with the MBC 158g, as well as 14g of 2400.. I'm still experimenting though.

Just crimp em in the crimp groove and they will be the right length.

This. I've gone as much as 15.2. 2400 is a good 357 magnum powder. Have you considered Blue Dot? It's not on your list but I recommended it.

8.5 of Power Pistol with a 158gr JHP is pretty spectacular. Big fireball and nice concussion wave!

Just crimp in the groove, it should feed just fine. Some guns are pickier than others but my Marlin will feed that bullet (158 RNFP)crimped in the groove in both 357 mag and 38 special cases

I use 13.5 2400 over Remington primers for a general purpose 158gr SWC load.

TCFP= Truncated Cone Flat Point? I don't see why it wouldn't feed, but if you are already using them in other guns, load up some dummy rounds and check feeding...

Tried a dummy round of a 158g LSWC & ejected fine, will report back after a range trip.

I had the exact same question.. I experimented.. I found 13.5g of 2400 with CCI SPP was very accurate in all my .357 revolvers including a 3" 686, 6" GP100, and 4" 681..

At the range the other day, my friend also had great results with said mentioned load in his 6" Dan Wesson...

my nice round is 13 G of 2400 with a 158 grain bullet. My mean round is 15.2g of 2400 with the same bullet

Hummm I am sitting here with the hornady 3rd Edition and it lists load datd for 158gr both cast RN and jaceted. Have they really changed it that much?

Anyway from the powder you have I would use Unique I like it max load listed 6.5gr so depending on what your looking for I would start at 5.5 or so and work it out from there. you do have more barrle to work with but still watch the pressure. If you looking for a plinker sometimes less can be more.
