Deer Drive gun?

A red-dot sight is about the fastest, very accurate, sighting system, followed by a low-powered scope with multi-X. Iron sights of all kinds are slower because the sights aren't on the same focal plane as the quarry, which may also be moving.

For drivers, where shots are close, it's not a big problem, but standers need more range/accuracy. If I were a driver, I'd want a semi-auto shotgun with 000 buck, and hoping that the standers weren't using high-capacity semi-autos unless I trusted them completely. BTW, I don't trust anyone completely!

Peeps on a 30-30 would be a fine setup.

As to never seeing deer while doing the pushing....then you're doing it wrong. There is no need to sound like a freight train when your pushing. Just walk normally and be ready to shoot.

I think an SKS would be a good one. It more than suits the range and they are certainly reliable and inexpensive to boot.

I would be mad and do a whole rant because its a deer run, but you dont have 10 guys and go in a line 1 mile long through the wood. You do it in what i think a responsible way and safe. 3 guys and you have "One or two people push the woods about 3/4 miles away then we have 3 points where we set up shooters where the deer usually run to." You know what your doing and where every one is.

If you have a Remington 141 in 35 Rem., you already have a fine deer rifle for drives. The problem may be the shooter, but it almost certainly is not the rifle. Put on a set of Williams peep sights and practice shooting at a tire rolling down a hill with a target in the middle.

Abel is right .35 Rem is good drivin deer gun out to 200 yrds. Practice, practice and shoot some more off hand, off shooting sticks, leaning againt a tree at moving targets standin targets. Learn to reload (if you don't so you can afford to practice more often) but above all shoot. I shoot well leaning against a tree or over shooting sticks because I shoot pdogs and small game that way. off hand I need to practice. Shoot until you know when and where to shoot at all ranges. Settle on using one gun and know its abilities.
