My daughter, under close supervision and instruction loaded 31 rounds of 222 Remington the other day. She did it all herself and is very proud. she now understands how to operate a beam, and electronic scale, how to adjust a powder measure and size/deprime, prime brass, throw a powder charge and seat a bullet, and set the dies up and adjust them to the correct setting. She intends to shoot them all on our next shooting outing in a couple weeks 20180211_142632.jpg

Save those pictures! I'd give anything to look back into the 1960s and see myself at the loading bench with that old Pacific "C" press of my father's. I think it was probably a .30-30 cartridge in my case (pun intended).

It's also really cool to look back at hand-written loading records and some of the comments you may have written at the time.

Outstanding.
I wish I could have gotten my daughters to reload at any age. They were introduced to shooting safely in their early teens.
They are now both in their 30s and have no interest in shooting. Their husbands have gone shooting with me once each. They have a standing invitation to go shooting any time, but only humored me once. I'm hoping I can do better with my grandsons when they get a little older.
Thanks for sharing the photos. You must be proud.

As she should be. Congratulations.

One question, though; shouldn't she be wearing some sort of shoes? I'd hate to see her concentration ruined by stepping on a stray spent primer.

yes, she loves to go barefoot. keeping shoes on that kiddo is an uphill battle. anytime we are in someones house or at the park..where ever... longer than thirty seconds they are off. needless to say we have lost a few pairs..but thank you for bringing that up. I think that is going to be our newly reinforced rule. Shoes on in the reloading room! (or at least flip flops)

That is really great that she reloads and you taught her!! I have 4 kids and everyone has helped me out reloading one way or another! Well if they want to go to the range they need to help out:) The little ones like to get the clean brass out of the corn cob, and they also found some you tube videos on how to make neat stuff out of fired brass ( the two smallest are girls). P.S. I also had issues with keeping them in shoes. Just make sure you cherish that time when they dont like shoes CUZ something happens when they get a little older and then they need a million of themo_O

Great! I started reloading shotgun shells at 9, and still reload. (not shotgun anymore, but rifle and pistol.) Both my sons tried it at about that age, but it didn't stick. But they sure like to shoot up Dad's handloads!

Great job dad! I love seeing families out at the range, even better at the loading bench too. I hope she puts on shoes at the range, stepping on brass.... ouch!

A hearty "Well done!" to you and the other Dads. Mine two bring books and end up reading in the truck. Technically they're at the range with Dadi, but I say it doesn't count!:)

They like the Savage Rascal, but only six or seven shots worth. I am a six or seven box kind of guy.

Outside and together, that's the important part.
