A few months ago I bought a heritage arms .22 revolver. I bought it cuz i'd heard some good reviews on this company, wanted a ,22 to plink with, and didn't want to wait several months to be able to save enough to buy a ruger.

Overall i've been very happy with my devision. $125.00 out the door and I can make decent hits at 90 yards. Yeah the finish is wearing a little fast but I bought the gun to use it, and use it hard. Maybe eventually i'll upgrade, but the money I saved has gone into quite a few pleasant afternoons shooting tin cans.

Last week though, it jammed up. THe trigger wouldn't go all the way and the cylinder wasn't turning. I took it home and disasembled it to try and find the problem. As it turned out there is a spring on the hand that holds tension against it. The spring broke, causing the hand to make only intermittant contact with the cylinder.

Now since this was a plinker I hadn't bothered to send in the warranty info. They have a lifetime warranty but I figured i'd have to send it in for them to fix. Once I got ahold of their customer service and telling them what had happened they asked if I was able to do the work myself. Answering yes they sent out a replacement hand free of charge. It arived 4 days later and my little plinker shoots good as new.

I'm not going to comment on the break because when I bought the inexpensive alternative I was full aware that some extra maintenance would be required. However with all the complaints I have heard of lousy customer service it was a real pleasure to deal with these people who seem like they have a genuine interest in keeping their customer happy.

I agree. A Heritage pistol was my first gun, and after 500 rounds or so the cylinder was a little loose, the extractor broke (which I think was my fault) and the firing pin was shaped weird to where the pin only hit the outmost part of the rim, which would cuase some misfires in .22LR and many misfires with the .22WMR.

I sent it to them and it arrived less than a week later. Excellent customer service and they fixed everything I wanted.

I retired the pistol now though, becuase of sentimental value. I wish that the finish would last a little longer, and I might have it redone soon.

However, I thought they only had a one year warranty? At least thats what my manual says.

Heritage is OK in my book. No doubt aside they make cheap revolvers, but they work and work well. My brother has a 6" blued model that shoots *very* well, doesn't spit, feels solid. Yes, there are alloy and plastic parts, but it's a very inexpensive SAA clone, what do you want?

Very popular revolvers with the farmers around here.
They keep them on the tractors and in the outbuildings for pest elimination.
Same complaints about finish wear and parts breakage with heavy use but one can't beat the price for a servicable beater gun that will shoot anything from a BB Cap or a LR shotshell to a 50 grain rimfire magnum.
