Does anybody have any experience witht he Heritag Rough Rider in .22mag? I have a feeling that somebody might gift me one from their collection when I finish my CCL classes.

Any information at all about these things would be appreciated.

My dad bought one - I really think it was a .22 / .22 Mag convertible. I've only shot it during one range session. It was accurate and went bang every time. Build quality was on the rough side.

I have one and I like it. It's the convertible with both 22lr and 22 mag cylinders. I've read a lot of posts from owners, the vast majority of whom like them. If you hear from the guys who actually own these things, almost all approve of them.

It is what it is -- an inexpensive 22. It works, it's accurate, it won't fall apart right away, but it's no colt python.

For an inexpensive revolver, it works. I feel that you are better off spending a bit more and getting a Ruger Single Six. Not everyone can afford the Single Six and depending on your use, you may want a less expensive revolver due to possibly your use (aka tackle box) or you shoot occasionally and the Heritage should last you. Better to shoot a Heritage than not shoot at all. A Ruger Single Six is "cheap" in terms of price if you look at other currently manufactured 22 revolvers. Alternatives are the Charter Arms and Taurus DA revolvers.

I have one. It is not the nicest gun ever but it is fine for what it is. If the one you get does not come with a .22 magnum cylinder you can get one off their website for around $40 dollars IIRC. I usually just shoot .22 LR through mine because it is so inexpensive. They are good little guns.

I bought one as a fourwheeling/pack gun. For the price you cant beat it. I got some mud on the barrel and diddnt clean it off for a couple days, when I cleaned the mud off the barrel with some kroil it took a dime size spot finish off down to the bare steel. I guess the barrels arent blued, they are painted with watercolor. i still give it a 7 out of 10 for the price and accuracy. At least for the price I dont feel bad getting it dirty or dropping it anymore.

Got one as a gift for my dad put the magnum cylinder in while inspecting it and now it won't come out I'll send it in Tuesday.

I had one for about 2 days. Spit lead on me, hard ejection, rounds wouldn't seat properly in the chambers. I returned it for a refund and I probably just got a bad one. I'm sure if you get a good one you will be satisfied and I'm not going to bash the company for my bad gun. I would probably try another one later on and give them another chance.

Have one I traded a dog for.Great working mans gun I carryit with me all the time goin in the woods & fields. Will buy another one if this one ever tears up.

I have one and its accurate enough. Took me a long time to get used to having a safety on a wheel gun. it's not nearly as clean or refined a my single six but plenty good enough for a trail gun. I bought mine to carry on a trap line if I hurt it no big deal. Bought the rough rider convertible for $175 out the door at a gun show couple years back.

Probably the safest gun to teach a new shooter how to shoot handguns. Single action with a safety. Can be dry fired loaded with the safety on.

I got one with the combo deal 22lr/22m. I have gotten 2 squirls at about 20 yards (dinner). And a rabbit at about 10 yards another dinner. So accuracy is not a problem, oh, used 22lr for the hunts, 22m tears up to much at close range

They work Great!

I got mine 20 years ago. It is a 9 inch barrel with adjustable sights . Shot many rabbits a couple of squirrles and a zillion ground squirrles. And yes the .22 mag cylinder is too much for small game. Enjoy it!:D

I picked one up used for $99 a couple years ago, mag/LR combo with adjustable sights.
It's always worked great, and it was a cheap way to learn that single action revolvers aren't for me.
Best thing about it, it's my13 year old nephew's favorite gun, and when my brother and I get together to shoot the kid has lots of choices.
Good companion piece for a Henry 22.
